My Major Glutening

Yesterday, the Nascar season began with the Daytona 500. So we get all ready to watch, I make a batch of gluten free buffalo tenders for me and b/f. They are finally ready, race is going, now we sit down to eat... I used Blue Cheese Dressing, no wheat in it.. have used it from the same bottle before, but uh oh.. something happened. I got sooooo sick. I also fed our stray cat while I was cooking, the food we give her has wheat in it, but I only take the closed bag outside, pour it into the dish, close it up again, and put it right inside the door on the floor, it doesnt leave that spot ever.

So we are eating and the gurgles began... I ran to the bathroom, yup a glutening.. but it was amazing, it was the best glutening I ever had!!! :P not painful, just had to come out.. it did and it was over (so I thought).

I came back and said, no more blue cheese dressing, switched to a gluten free ranch dressing.. not as good, but hey gotta do what I gotta do.. couldnt finish my chicken anyway, made too much! lol

As for the rest of the day, nope, nothing stayed in.. phooey. It was a pretty serious glutening for me then.. usually for me once its out, i can eat again without a problem, not yesterday. Everything kept coming out.. phooey.. today I am ok so far.. eating breakfast now.. hopefully it will all be ok!

My first major glutening in a LONG time! Does anyone use a gluten free blue cheese dressing? I love and miss my blue cheese with buffalo tenders, I finally perfected that recipe, but now no dressing! phooey!!

Sorry to hear about your glutening... I hope you're feeling much better now...it sucks when something previously 'safe' does a number on you!

That stinks..I thought that Litehouse Blue Cheese was gluten free?

(I hate to ask while you feel sick, but have you ever posted your buffalo chicken tenders recipe??)

No, I havent posted the recipe for the buffalo chicken tenders, but I will under the correct heading if you would like! I am better now, breakfast didnt stay in, but I have had 2 cookies and 4 crackers since then, and they are doing ok! LOL, all the healthy stuff right?

That sucks, I just glutened myself cooking noodles. I tasted mine to see if they were done, and without thinking (oh yeah) I tasted their's to see if they were done. Hope the food "stays in".

OH NO! I hate when that happens. I did that once at my mothers around the holidays my first holidays with celiacs. Just was touching it to see if it was hot, and licked my finger! I guess we are all able to make mistakes like that no matter how long we have been at it! I hope you dont get sick! If you do, feel better fast!!

Sorry to hear you got sick, and at the Start of NASCAR at that....I am glad to hear the glutening wasn't that bad. Hope you are feeling much better.

It's crazy what you have to eat when you don't feel well!! Hopefully you can eat a decent supper tonight.

(Thanks for posting that recipe!)

I also glutened myself last night cooking noodles for my son! I had everything perfect...I thought! One thing that escaped me was when I ladled the sauce onto his noodles the ladle touched them and I put the ladel back into the sauce again..not thinking!! As I was eating my gluten-free noodles I realized what I had done. Well a few hours later stomach started grumbling and I knew I had done myself in. I'm still pretty new to this (diagnosed Celiac in Jan 07). Old habits are hard to break.

They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

@JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.

This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
