I was wondering if anyone knows if Duet DHA by Stuart Natal are gluten-free. I went to their website and I can't tell if they are or not. I am posting the link to the site. If any of you who are really good at reading labels could check this out, I would GREATLY appreciate it if you could let me know!!!

Thanks! Gwen

Hi Gwen :)

Based on the ingredients listed, it appears to not to have any gluten containing ingredients. The starch they use is corn. However, in any circumstance like this, I would double check with the company. Their phone number is 877.926.6396.

Word of caution: You should not be consuming anything UNTIL you know its gluten free :) If you don't know its status, don't use it or find an alternative, til an answer is found.

Sorry I can't be of more help. When are you due?! :) :) :)

Thank you!! Sooooo...I just called the company and they told me that the only ingredient that a person with Celiac needs to be concerned about is the cornstarch gluten. I really don't know what that means because I thought cornstarch was gluten-free. I tried to look up cornstarch gluten online but couldn't find it...any ideas?

Yes. there products are great. Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals makes Stuart and Duetdha. I take their OTC, Stuart Prenatal, it is the same as DuetDha, but the stuart has a little less folic acid and no dha. I take Expecta for my DHA supplement.

I have been taking their vitamins for 6 months. I am currently 18 weeks pregnant. I have called numerous times to verify the gluten free status of both these vitamins. They are defintely gluten free. They do contain corn gluten, but that is totally fine and acceptable for a celiac! (been living with celiac for 26 years).

Good luck and congrats!!!

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
