Hi, My adult (married) daughter has been invited to a friends house for a "girls night out" on Thurs. They're making "Cosmo's made with vodka. Are there any brands of Vodka that are gluten-free? I thought I remembered some??? Thanks Jean :(

I know there are a number of potato vodkas - it'd depend on what you've got in stores near you. I like Ciroq, which is made from grapes, but pricey.

Chopin is made from potatoes, but is also expensive.

All vodka should be safe because it's distilled. Distilling removes the poisons.

But if you're still paranoid about that and don't want to pay ther high potato vodka prices, Smirnoff's is made from corn. All flavors are definitely gluten-free.

A triple distilled potato vodka found in many stores is the Polish vodka called LUKSUSPOWA. I don't trust any of the vodkas made from grain even though they are distilled. Potato vodka is a little more expensive than the grain vodkas.

But why wouldn't you trust a vodka made from corn?

I drink Smirnoff and have no troubles. I checked it about a year ago and it was gluten-free.

I guess I'm being over cautious because I get lesions on my throat if I make a mistake. However, i will try the corn vodka the next time. Thanks for making me think.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I gave them all to my daughter! I foolishly forgot I could go to the food list in this site and look up the info!! She went and they made sure to have a corn based Vodka and she had No problems. (Glad she could enjoy a well deserved evening visiting with her friends.) Thanks to you all!! Jean :D

Iceberg Vodka is the best vodka I've ever had. It is also derived from corn and cost more than Smirnoff but less than the other potato brands. But it is better to me than vodkas that cost twice the price. What would a girl do if she couldn't enjoy a cosmo now and then.. B)

Anyone know about flavored vodkas? My favorite is Stoli Vanilla and I haven't had it in months because I wasn't sure. I don't know if the distillation process would make any ingredients ok.

They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

@JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.

This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
