How Do You Make Black Licorice?

Black licorice pipes, whips... surely they can be made at home? I have come across a couple of recipes for black licorice chews (square caramels) made without any flour at all, so they might be ok, but I want the flour type of recipe (and of course substitute a gluten-free flour for it).

But such a recipe is surprisingly hard to find.

Anyone out there have one?

Hi Mamatide... Did you manage to find a recipe? I'm looking too. I buy the Orgran gluten-free Licorice but I would like to try making my own.

I've been toying with this idea, and am thinking it might work with the right gums and flour. I do know that anise is a primary part of the flavor too. So now I think I'll try a few things and post a recipe if I get something edible.

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.
