Argh! Do I Need To Go Back To The Dr?

Ok, so I had this nasty gastro flu a month ago. It was the sickest I had been in years (other than the celiac). Anyhow, since then, my stomach has been all messed up. Every time I eat anything I bloat and have back pain and headaches and my tummy hurts in the night. I know I have not been getting glutened. My house is gluten-free. I wondered if it was rice so I stopped eating rice. I stopped eating gluten-free baked goods that I make. I stopped eating potatoes. I thought maybe it was the cornmeal mush I was having for breakfast so I stopped the corn. I just had a piece of salmon and some boiled carrots with salt and butter on them for lunch and have felt like crap ever since. I even have been emotional, and clenching my jaw when I sleep, waking up with a sore jaw and a headache.

My dh wants me to go back in to the dr. Like alot of you, I hate going to the dr. I went in about 4 mos ago and she said she couldn't do anything for me but test my levels and my vit d was gone so she put me on a suppliment for that and told me my stress level was too high, that is was unbelievable in her words. There is no way to lower the stress right now. How can I eat?? What can I eat?? And do I need to go back in to the dr? I am at my wits end. I feel like going on a liquid diet so I feel normal and my clothes fit again. Please help, I am desperate.

I would try a very simple diet like you would have after the flu -- homemade chicken soup with overcooked veggies ... maybe even with some brown rice pasta.

I'd keep it very simple until you feel better.

Stress is bad. Maybe some vitamin B Complex will help you deal with it better.

I would do the best I could to lower the stress. If when the stress is gone you still have problems, I'd start looking for what else it could be.

If you don't work to lower the stress now, you might get sicker, which will force you to lower it ... it's hard to have stress when you're sick in bed. Do it now while you can make the changes voluntarily.

Maybe your intestinal bugs are out of balance because of the viral flu? I've been told that before but was before i was diagnosed with Celiac's ; D They had me take acidophilus (sp?) for it.

      To Trent’s, yes, from what i’ve read it is not uncommon for digestive systems to become less tolerant to gluten over time. Many types of sensitivity or allergies arise in older people who never had a problem. I don’t see why you are focusing on anything but the fact that after years of my sensitivity to gluten, for whatever reason , it has disappeared after a bout of antibiotics. What i’ve read is antibiotics can make gluten sensitivity worse. In any event, in my case, if I can still eat all the wheat products I want with no reaction after a month or more since my hospital stay this is something that should be investigated. Time will tell.

      I had a UTI, blood cultures are standard to insure that the infection does not get in the bloodstream which can lead to sepsis and death. In my case there was bacteria in my blood which necessitated 48 hours of antibiotic IV

      Hi Cameo674. just read your post. Well wishes to a correct diagnosis so that you can get on track to healing and feeling better. Personally I know it’s good to have the eosinophilic disorder ruled out too, as this can show anti-ttg igA antibodies too. But usually without the anti-gliadin antibodies unless gliadin is an allergen for you. Thanks for posting the link to look up SNPs rs… numbers on another post. Was useful.       Hello. Do you mind saying what symptoms led the doctors to test for bacteria in your blood?

      So you you ate wheat products every single day for 50 years without a problem but then in the 90's you discovered that wheat was your problem. That's confusing to me. It seems contradictory. Did you have a problem or not?
