Candida Questions

I know this isn't definitely celiac related, but I thought more people would see it if I put it in here instead of related disorders.

I think I might have Candida, and I'm going to see a naturopath in a few weeks but frankly, I am willing to do anything to feel better.

After reading a lot of sites and so on, it seems like it could easily be my issue.

My few questions are this (it's ambiguous as there is info on many different sites).

Is nutritional yeast okay? I realize yeast is bad, but some say this is fine.

I know caffeine is not good, but is coffee also? I hate decaf because of the chemicals, but I am not sure if I can give it up.

What about stevia? Although, if I had to give up coffee, then that is the only thing I use it in.

I do love diet root beer - is the aspartame bad? I cannot drink regular because I get hypoglycemic-y, but I really enjoy this.

Tofu?

Do I cut out ALL fruits? I eat about a pear a day, right now. I'm trying to limit them. But should I cut that out, too?

What about small amounts of sugar in, for example, Almond Breeze, and what about Nature's Path fruit juice sweetened Corn Flakes?

I know peanuts are bad (I will miss my peanut butter), but I am a vegan and eat a lot of nuts/seeds for my good fats and protein. Do I cut that out, too?

I've not eaten mushrooms for about 2 weeks and am missing them dearly.

And all veggies are okay, right? (Except maybe higher sugar ones, like carrots)

I am sick of feeling this way, and am willing to do anything.

Please only offer advice if you are knowledgable about this... Not websites, I've looked!

Thanks.

I'm a vegan, and I also had a pretty bad Candida problem, but luckily I've cleared it up a bit. I know it can have you feeling pretty icky, so I really hope you start to feel better soon. I was eating a small amount of fructose while I was trying to get rid of my candida, but absolutely NO refined or white sugars. Personally, I wouldn't use any stevia or drink anything with aspartame. I believe your decaf coffee is okay though. The pear and the fruit juice sweetened cornflakes are okay too, but the almond breeze may be a little high in refined sugar. Have you ever tried unsweetened soymilk? You could have that with some blueberries or strawberries in your cereal. The berries are very safe because they're lower in sugar than all of the other fruits. I was also thinking, have you ever tried almond butter in place of the peanut butter?

Feel better soon :)

Thanks for the reply.

Can you eat tofu? I only eat Mori-Nu in the asceptic packaging.

The almond breeze I only use in my coffee - so just a splash. Soymilk gives me a really bad stomachache - all brands. But I could buy unsweetened Almond Breeze in that case. I don't use the milk in the cereal - I make tofu pudding and mix it - it's my favourite snack.

I eat a lot of almond butter, too - I just love both. I don't mind being just almond buttered for a while!

Thank you so much so far :)

Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

Had my MRI today I didn't have to have the manitol with my allergy's , I just had a litre of water , they were great with my concerns , so let's see if anything comes of if will keep posted once I have results 👍

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
