So I'm about to move out and I've been shopping for all of the odds and ends that I'll be needing, and I'm about to begin purchasing cookware. I've got tons of food sensitivities and my doctor thinks they're because of the heavy metals that show up in my blood tests and urine tests (mercury, aluminum, lead, copper, arsenic etc.). For the past couple of years I've been cooking with teflon and I use a lot of foil when I'm cooking...does anyone know of any dangers in that? One of my strong food sensitivities is oil so I have to cook with something that my food won't stick to...any suggestions on what my healthiest bet is?

I would lose the teflon, as it can create wierd side effects in a person. I cook everything in butter, and I have stainless steel pans. Ceramic coated pans will be the safest for you, probably. Also, try googling "heavy metal detox" and see what you get, you might try chlorella for cleansing. In what way do you use a lot of foil in cooking?

stainless steel pot& pans are the best. They will do the job without anything hidden... I would invest ina heavy weight set some are very light inweighed & things will not cook as well in them.My pans are heavy in weight so I don't get burning & uneven cooking.

I would trash the teflon also.. Do a search on teflon & I bet you will be surprised...

My son has heavy metal poisioning in his brain ( lead & Mercury). His blood test came back ok but we have since found it was past his blood & settled in his brain. We have done chelation therapy & are now working on some other options. This is a deadly combo.

Do you know where your source of heavy metals came from??? He missed 10 months of work last year do to this....

I got rid of all my teflon a few years ago and bought a good stainless set too. I found mine at Sears. I thought I'd have to scrub and scrub to get things clean, but it really isn't bad at all. As long as you clean up right away. Sometimes I'll let a pan soak in some soapy water for a bit, but then it comes right out. I was very surprised when I read about teflon a few years ago. And it's still everywhere!!

Try searching eBay for Visions Cookware by Corelle. I don't think you can buy it new anymore, but if anyone knows of a source for new stuff, let me know! :)

Thanks everyone...

I'm just wondering if there's something out there (in terms of skillets) that's nonstick but not toxic? I can't use any oil or spray on anything so it's kind of tough.

Thank you for the responses so far though!

I very seldom use anything on my stainless. You might try just searing the meat in a hot skillet then adding tiny amounts of water to keep it from burning. I never have a problem doing this method.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
