Hi, I'm new to this board, and fairly new to Celiac Disease, one of my twin daughters was diagnosed in May. I was wondering if anyone could help me. I bought a case of Pamela's Gluten Free Pancake Mix, they were really inexpensive 6 24 oz. bags for $5.00 the case was $30.00. Unfortunalely, the daughter without Celiac Disease is allergic to Tree Nuts, and I didn't realize they were in this mix. Amazon will not return it. Does anyone know of a posting or listing that I could advertise to sell these. They are unopened, and still in the amazon box. I would appreciate any help, thanks !

Hey--that's a bummer. I don't know of an Internet option for you to off the baking mix, but what if you put up a flyer at the local celiac support group meeting, or the local gastroenterologist's office, or even a naturopath's office (those naturopaths are always telling their patients to get off wheat). I bet you'd rid yourself of the mixes that way, and you wouldn't have to ship it.

Good luck.

Oh, My 11year old son is celiac (me too). Here are some of his favorite foods:

Fruity Pebbles, Cocoa Pebbles and Dora the Explorer Cinnamon Stars (I know--sugar! but it's gluten free so gimme a break)

beef jerky

deli turkey and provolone cheese rolled up in a big lettuce leaf

Fritos, Cheetos, tortilla chips and salsa, or with bean dip

rice cake with hummus

Lara Bars (these have tree nuts, tho)

Zone Bars (Fudge Graham, Chocolate Coconut Crunch, and Chocolate Almond Raisin are gluten-free)

Fresh fruit

Dried fruit

Cottage cheese with chopped tomatoes on top

Cottage cheese with yogurt stirred in

Burger with a corn tortilla for a wrap, or a lettuce leaf for a wrap

Where are you located? I might be interested if the shipping is not too bad. Nikkie

I'm 67 and have been celiac for 17yrs. I had cataract surgery and they put a gluten lens in my eye. Through a lot of research, I found out about MMA acrylic...it contains gluten. It took 6 months for me to find a DR that would remove it and replace it with a gluten-free lens . I have lost some vision in that eye because of it . I also go to a prosthodontist instead of a regular dentist because they are specialized. He has made me a night guard and a few retainers with no issues... where my regular dentist didn't care. I have really bad reactions to gluten and I'm extremely sensitive, even to CC. I have done so much research on gluten-free issues because of these Drs that just don't care. Gluten is in almost everything shampoo, lotion, food, spices, acrylic, medication even communion wafers! All of my Drs know and believe me I remind them often.... welcome to my world!

If this applies geographically, in the U.K., physicians will often declare a diagnosis of celiac disease based on the TTG-IGA antibody blood test alone if the score is 10x normal or greater, which your score is. There is very little chance the endoscopy/biopsy will contradict the antibody blood test.

TTG IgA reference range 0.0 to 14.9 KU/L

What was the reference range for that test? Each lab uses different reference ranges so a raw score like that makes it difficult to comment on. But it looks like a rather large number.

I have had the tTG-IgA blood test my result are >250.0  I am waiting for the appointment with the gastroenterologist for endoscopy and biopsies.    what are the chances it’s not coeliacs.  waiting and not knowing is so hard. Especially the eating of gluten knowing it may be causing you more harm and coping with the symptoms.
