Today I went to see my doctor b/c I had gluten reaction from CC or maybe the saled dressing I had at bob evans... still not sure, they said the dressing was safe. anyway, I was also having some sort of allergic reaction too. ALong with a DH rash. So my doc gave me a cordizone (sp?) shot to help with the reaction and sending me to get food allergey test done. he also finally gave me celiac spure diag , which I have seen many docs for many years and nothing... so huge weight lifted off my shoulders.. don't feel so crazy anymore!

Well, now for my question I have a 10mth old that I still nurse some and the doc asked me if I was planning to stop soon (gonna take him to a year if my supply lasted)... he does'nt really like the idea of me nursing with the shot but, wants me to decide. Any advice?

I would contact the La Leche League and see what they say--they know WAY more than the docs about anything to do with nursing, including what gets into breast milk and what doesn't.

The website is www.lli.org, I think. If that doesn't work, google "La Leche League."

Good luck, and bravo to you for nursing! I could never understand why anyone would want to wean their baby to chemicals out of a can put into a plastic bottle with a rubber nipple, anyway...

Thanks so much. I had already looked at kellymom.com and there was nothing.

I am a lactation counselor, but unfortunealty the book we have on meds and nursing is 3 yrs. old, so I don't feel comfortable giving the advice in there. Calling a local lactation consultant is a good idea. If you can't nurse while on this med, you could at least pump and dump your milk until the med is out of your body. You may have to do the formula for a few days, but at least your milk supply won't decrease.

Thanks, Under my docs new advice I am giving him mainly formula right now and nursing only some. He said it should be ok... my son seems to be happy with that arrangement. I am trusting the doc is right?. This whole nursing thing on what is safe and whats not is hard and never usually a clear cut answer... esp since I have been adjusting to a gluten-free lifestyle.

Just an FYI, call Bob Evans and talkto someone knowledgable about the food. I recently found out that my local Bob Evans home fries arrive seasoned, the chicken arrives frozen with dairy items (my kid is allergic to dairy). I left that day eating an awful burger patty and small side of fruit, and still hungry. I won't be back any time soon.

I would definitely consult with a lactation consultant in a hospital. A lot of docs no little to nothing about breastfeeding. Keep doing what you are doing, but get advice from a real expert. When did the doc say you could start breastfeeding all the time again? You should pump and dump your milk in between nursings so that your milk supply won't decrease.

I hope you feel better and get the answers you need. Good for you with nursing and sticking with it.

I do have to comment on Fiddle -Faddle's post. though. I am saddened that some would would make a mom feel bad for NOT BF. there are many reason NOT to BF. I do believe BF is great if it is right for you and your child and do it if you can. I personally did not BF because it wasn't for me and i knew that so to me if I wouldn't be able to handle it then my child was better off being formula feed. I did support any and all of my friends who BF and helped them get past any hurdles when times got rough because that is what friends do. I personally don't think it is fair to talk down formula feeding like you did in your statement. what happens is a new mom was reading that post and was having a hard time BF and was in tears because she couldn't and read what you said and it made it worse? It is a very personal choice and I think ALL mothers should support other mothers in their disicion to do what is best for their families and their children.

I am sure you had no clue you would offend any one with this post and I am very sorry if I took it the wrong way but I just want mothers to support other mothers in how they choose to feed their babies.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?

Thankyou so much for your words. Its a hard battle when a supposed well known hospital whose celiac " specialist " has down played me because my colon looks fine and put it in my medical and so pcp doesn't take seriously. In their eyes we all carry that gene.Im having alot of bad days trying to be positive because of it.
