on their website they say that they are allergen free but that the glaze has wheat starch. In Houston, TX a location has said that they have had so many requests for their glaze to be celiac friendly that they no longer have wheat starch in their glaze.

I'm just wanting some feedback on this subject. The man on the phone really sounds like he knows his stuff.

thanks for the help!

To my knowledge, some honey baked hams are gluten free IF they are cooked without the glaze. (some have glaze packets that you apply when re-heating the ham).

It's the glaze that most likely is wheat based.

If a ham already has the glaze on it, you CAN NOT eat around the glaze as it will be contaminated with the glutenous glaze. Some hams MAY have a gluten free glaze. ALWAYS read the labels.

It's good to know that companies are listening.

I would skip the preglazed. Glazes are really easy to make yourself. I just throw together brown sugar and gluten-free mustard and heat until the sugar dissolves. Sometimes I will add pineapple juice. Then I just baste the fresh ham with that. There are lots of easy glaze recipes around.

There is a pretty lengthy discussion going on right now over on Delphi about this subject. It appears that Honey Baked Hams has reformulated their glaze, and it is now gluten-free. Open Original Shared Linkto that topic.

thanks for the info!

it's sounding like its a go as long as you check with your location and make sure they have the new gluten-free glaze! woot!

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
