my whole life i lived w/o knowing i had a gluten allergy. (or celiac, i dunno).

now at 30 i decided to get some bloodword done to see if i had a food intolerance, IBS or whatever causes my bloating or constipation.

can these thing just come on, all of a sudden?

Yes, celiac is often triggered by a trauma to the body - illness, stress, injury, pregnancy, etc.

Yes, celiac is often triggered by a trauma to the body - illness, stress, injury, pregnancy, etc.

It is important to have a clear view of the celiac damage

We would not want someone to wait before getting tested. There are supposedly 2,910.000 people who have this, according to the estimates.

A trauma can cause an escalation or flare up of celiac. A trauma "kicks things up a notch"...

But generally celiac is something has been going in, unnoticed.

The doctors may not have noticed before a trauma creates major symptoms, but unnoticed celiac is still damaging.

That is why celiac screening is very important. Celiac is a good example of how we should be thinking of future medical care. Prevention is preferable to treatment.

And we should think that way about celiac this way!

Even if current testing is not perfect - which it is not - to diagnose celiac before other damage has occurred is far better than waiting for a trauma to occur.

I was 55 and woke up one morning, took a sip of coffee and threw up. Even without the coffee I did that for 6 months before they figured out is was celiac. I had never had any problems with any foods or allergies prior to 2.5 years ago.

It just happens.. I read that 20% of us get it around age 60, sI I was just early.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
