Question On Enterolab....

Have not checked in here for awhile but due to another flare-up of problems I am again doing research.

I have an elevated Ig A only. Everything else has been negative (including Ttg and Endomysial and IgG.)

Celiac Mom, Type I diabetes, thyroid disease and newly diagnosed Hep C (how lucky I am to have all of these.)

I cannot afford all of Dr. Fine's tests, and do not want a biopsy (with normal Ttg I would suspect it wouldnt show damage yet, though it may show later.)

Is there any test from his lab which just gives a general direction that things might be going?

He suggested a couple to me, but I cannot remember what they are.

thanks for any information.

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis', thank goodness for the Internet and the valuable information we are able to find!

I was limited financially on Enterolab's testing so I ordered the "gluten sensitivity test" and Malabsorption test. If you cannot afford these you could always try the gluten-free diet for a couple of months to see if you notice an improvement (just a suggestion ;) ) of course that depends on if you want a definate dx.

I hope you find some answers soon and begin to feel better. :)

See? And then when I panic, someone calls me and tells me there is a stomach virus going around town and they feel the same way I do!

My problem is, I go through this every winter but I dont go through it all year long.

No anemia showing up, no other problems except a host of autoimmune things.

But this call from my friend indicates to me that I do have a tummy bug at this time because she described the same darn thing.

I wonder if you can get the same bug every winter?

Having type 1 diabetes would be enough of a reason to get screened. IMO I agree with the tests suggested. It seems a lot cheaper than having all the doctor visits and biopsies. If the tests came back negative, trying a gluten free diet would not hurt you. The gluten free diet is being reccomended for a variety of other ailments now.

Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

Had my MRI today I didn't have to have the manitol with my allergy's , I just had a litre of water , they were great with my concerns , so let's see if anything comes of if will keep posted once I have results 👍

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
