gluten-free, Cf Painkillers...

I am having surgery next week and I need to come with some suggestions for my doctor on what pain killers I can take.

I do not do well on strong ones...but I need something stronger than Tylenol I am told. ;):P I hate medication.

Anyways, does anyone know of any pain killers that are free from Gluten, casein and everything else bad? I am like intolerant to everything starchy..

Oh and I can't take Ibuprofen (shortness of breath).

I know there are lists of gluten free drugs, but haven't been able to find one that also lists milk and such. Does anyone know of one? Then I can take a look for myself.

Here is a listing of gluten free drugs, but I can't vouch for any casein free.

When I had my daughter they wanted to give me Percocet, but opiates - synthetic or natural - make me nauseous and do nothing for the pain. So it was Extra-Strength Tylenol for me.

Get this. The nurses had access to the Percocet at the nurse's station. They had to leave the building and go to the hospital pharmacy for the Tylenol. :blink: Go figure.

Anyway, if you can't come up with anything else, Tylenol may not kill the pain, but it will hopefully dull it enough.

I plan on bringing Tylenol (the one I usually take for menstrual cramping). I usually do ok on just one of them so I am so, so, so hoping I'll be good on two (1 gram all together) of them instead. I'll bring my heating pad too which usually helps real well with pain.

I have a pre-surgery meeting tomorrow with the doctor.

I get really drugged by pain killers normally.

Once they gave me Benadryl+Droperidol+Ketorolac at the ER and it was the worst experience in my life. I was so drugged I could hardly talk or walk and I got side effects so that I felt I needed to move constantly. It crawled inside of me. 6 hours of that. After that I am VERY paranoid about drugs.

I have that list. Been looking at it. Nothing about Casein there though. It seems hard to find actually.

I have tried the pharmacy here but they are a joke. I don't know how many times they have been completely oblivious and have said they don't even know how to find things. Useless.

      Stomach burning and neuropathy

      Hello I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.       Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet. I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now. He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.       Have you tried AN-PEP enzymes, for example, GlutenX (who is a sponsor here)? A lot of research has shown that it can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines. It might be a better approach than risking nicotine addiction, and the questionable research around this. I also hope that he’s trying to be 100% Gluten-F...

I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you

      Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.
