Gluten Free Support Group at Open Original Shared Link in Federal Way. Our next meeting is 3/17/08 at 7:00 pm.

We will be having the dietician from Open Original Shared Linkcome to speak to us. This is a golden opportunity to talk to a dietician that actually knows something about the gluten-free diet. The Organic Bistro dietician will keep her presentation to about 30 minutes which should leave lots of time for questions and discussion.

Anybody in South King or North Pierce county - mark your calendar and hope to see you there!

Hi, freeswimom. There are quite a few good options in Federal Way. As far as Restaurants go, we have an Outback, McGrath's Fish House and Red Robin. I have not eaten at the Red Robin in town, so I don't know if they have a dedicated fryer for their fries. You might want to verify that part. There are also several fast food places that have gluten-free options, if you choose to go that route (Chipotle, Taco Del mar, Wendy's, McDonalds, etc)

gluten-free options in the grocery stores are pretty good here as well. We do have a Trader Joe's, and they have all kinds of gluten-free goodies. There is a pretty extensive (and very expensive) gluten-free section at Marlene's Market, a great health food store in town. The Fred Meyer store has a good natural foods section that includes many gluten-free options. It's pretty close to the Aquatics center, where I assume the meet will take place (it's on the same road, actually.) There's also a small gluten-free section at the Top Foods.

Let me know if you want more specifics. I'll be happy to help you find safe food for your daughter. I hope she does well in the meet!

Many years ago yes, after eating and going to bed, apparently my esophagus filled with food that my body rejected, the esophagus would lay against the Heart sack (pericardium?) and the heart would respond by becoming arrhythmic. That went away with the strict diet.

I was commenting on the report saying it did not mention migraines! Yes it does last paragraph says have not seen any evidence that Celiac cause migraines! I thought this was about truth?

It has been known for some years that celiacs suffer from migraines at a higher rate than the general populatation. It is an established symptom.
