Hi, Someone gave my husband Red Wing Hockey tickets in a suite. They have tables of foods and desserts. I didn't see a huge choice in the gluten free area, but did have some cheese, fresh fruit, and fresh matzorella cheese with basil and tomato. I did eye the cheesecake on the dessert table but didn't eat any of it. My husband went to the chefs and asked if they had anything gluten free. They came and talked to me and made a fresh salad with a grilled chicken breast and a parfait of fresh strawberries and yogurt. They did say that is what they have done previously. They did mention mousse, but weren't sure if it was safe, so did the yogurt.

Sorry, I think I got you mixed up with another poster.

I hadn't been eating gluten free before having the antibody test done. I started eating gluten free after having the test done because the gastro PA told me to eat gluten-free for 6 months. I'm now 3 months in.

I tend to agree with RMJ. Your doc took the reasonable and practical approach to diagnosis. All things considered, it was the right way to go. However, if you have first degree relatives that show signs of possible celiac disease, urge them to get formally tested before they start the gluten free diet.

It sounds like you have a very reasonable GI doctor, who diagnosed you based on family history and symptoms after eating gluten. I would consider you lucky! The other option would be to make yourself very sick by doing weeks of a gluten challenge prior to an endoscopy.
