Anyone out there able to give me some ideas for a dish to pass for my godsons 1st communion? I am his godmother and they are having a luncheon afterwards. They are serving: BBQ's, Lasagna, Garlic Bread, Veggies/dip, Taco Salad, and potatoe salad, along w/ Cake. I can eat veggies only out of all that. Any ideas out there on what kind of dish I can take to pass that I can eat? I will take my own ham or somehting like that to eat but want/need to contribute.

Thanks for any ideas!

Jody

How about a big fruit salad? It's not exactly an inspired idea, but it usually gets eaten!

something in BBQ sauce in the crockpot

meatballs

salsa(could be homemade or storebought) and chips

a great salad with lots of stuff on it, veg., bacon, grilled chicken, etc.

a gelatin in a nice mold with fruit in it

a fruit crisp for dessert- any combo of apple, cherry, blackberry, blueberry, peach-I use my old recipe that calls for oats and flour and sub. a combo of Earthbalance and shortening for the butter and use the standard gluten-free blend of rice, tapioca and potato, plus some sorghum plus gluten-free oats

That gives me an idea:

Suppose you use a mini ice cream scoop to carve out pieces of various melons - watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, etc. Arrange them along with seedless grapes, cubed peaches, etc, or fruit cocktail. Also put in cubes of different colors of jello, all on a bed of whipped topping or pudding/custard. That should be very colorful and attractive, not to mention delicious! Come to think of it, there could be pudding on the bottom and whipped topping on top, but not too much or it will hide all the colorful fruit, unless maybe it's in a deep glass dish.

Great ideas! All of them. Sometimes when I eat simply boring food day after day I forget to think outside the box! Lil' Smokies and the fruit and jello sound great!!!!

thank you!

A big tossed salad to accent the lasagne. I would take apiece of gluten-free lasagne with you.....that way you will not look out of place. Breaded gluten-free chicken nuggets, stuffed mushrooms, bacon wrapped water chesnuts, pierogi casserole with gluten-free noodles of course.Marinated veggies. hth mamaw

They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

@JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.

This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
