Just wondering...Would love to compare notes or maybe even find a different doctor. In my first attempt to get diagnosed the doctor I had for 5 years sent me for gall bladder tests which came back normal and "pooh-poohed"my request for gluten intolerance. She said if that was the reason for all my abdominal pain and frequent huge and multiple canker sores I would have had the stomach aches my whole life and that celiac disease appears from the time you are a child. Of course we all know that is not always the case. (By the way I'm 48 and have had some signs for over a year). Anyway, I got her to agree to test me for h-pylori and gluten intolerance which both came back negative. I then changed doctors and my new doctor did not repeat the gluten intolerance tests, but in addition to more blood tests ordered stool samples and checked for parasites. Results all normal! I'm ready to go in again for more tests and after reading everything I can get my hands am wondering if I should request tests for my inflammation level, acidosis, exposure to metals, systemic lupus, and countless others. I'm so tired of trying to figure out what hidden additives might set me off including dairy. I was thin to begin with and am now about 5 pounds lighter still. People keep asking me if I'm ok and that I should put on some weight. I avoid dairy, but sure do miss yogurt and like another member am wondering if goat yogurt might be ok? Sorry for rambling. Thanks for listening.

LUCY LOU,

Hello, my name is Bob and I also had been diagnosed in my late 40's. I couldn't figure what was wrong and I just keep at my Primary Dr.......he tried Med's to help with some of my problems. Finally I went to a Gastrologist and he figured it out right away..........when I quit the Glutens (I love Pasta and Bread) I lost 25lbs........Man! I got it back now and feeling better. Did you go to a specialist? I found a lot of Dr's do "pooh-poohed" the Celiac thing........I do believe it is getting better all the time now, people believe its true!

Good Luck,

Bob

Hi Bob!

Thanks so much for your response! I have not tried a specialist yet, but changed primary doctors. She hasn't re-ordered the tests for celiac (1st one was negative), but suggested I try some enzymes and continue my gluten free self-imposed diet, send some stool samples to an out of state lab, add enyzmes and yogurt to my diet and if still feeling symptoms get an endoscopy and/or colonscopy. So far, I have added veggie enzymes prior to eating each meal and feel some improvement. Afraid to add the yogurt back in though I miss it since I've been off dairy quite awhile. Anyway, sorry to have gone into such detail, but can't thank you enough for your support! I have had very few replies to my 2 posts and was disappointed and discouraged. At least I know there is hope!!! Glad you are doing well and thanks for the "day brightener"!

Lucy-Lou,

Good Morning! Yes, it can be very frustrating with this crap........I found as I go on I get better with my choices, although at times I can't figure....I would very much recommend a Gastrologist. My Primary was very frustrating..........because there is no drug to fix it that doesn't mean it doesn't exist!!

After my first visit to the Gastro he told me I had Celiac, then I had a endoscopy and colonscopy to confirm. As a matter of fact I just recently went in for another endoscopy and colonscopy to check and he said I was doing "VERY" good.........whatever the count was I don't remember but it was good! Except for the Beer I was doing real good.........I have since quit the Beer and have been feeling even better.........I was sick and tired of being sick and tired!

Let me know how you make out.......send me your E-mail and I can forward you some info.

Have a great weekend,

Bob

@Scatterbrain, Thiamine Vitamin B1 and amino acid Taurine work together.  Our bodies can make Taurine from meats consumed.  Our bodies cannot make Thiamine and must consume thiamine from food.  Meat is the best source of B vitamins like Thiamine.   Vegetarians may not make sufficient taurine since they don't eat meat sources of taurine.  Seaweed is the best vegetarian source of taurine. Vegetarians may not consume sufficient Thiamine since few veggies are good sources.  Whole grains, legumes, and nuts and seeds contain thiamine.  Many of these sources can be hard to digest and absorb for people with Celiac disease.   You may find taking the forms of thiamine called Benfotiamine or TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) and a B Complex will give the benefits you're looking for better than taurine alone.

@Jmartes71, I went to Doterra's site and had a look around.  The Doterra TerraZyme supplement really jumped out at me.  Since we, as Celiacs, often have digestive problems, I looked at the ingredients.  The majority of the enzymes in this supplement are made using black mold, Aspergillus!  Other enzymes are made by yeast Saccharomyces!  Considering the fact that Celiac often have permeable intestines (leaky gut syndrome), I would be very hesitant to take a product like this.  Although there may not be live black mold or yeast in the product, the enzymes may still cause an immune system response which would definitely cause inflammation throughout the body.   Skin, eyes, and intestines are all made from the same basic type of cells.  Your skin on the outside and eyes can reflect how irritated the intestines are on the inside.  Our skin, eyes, and intestines all need the same vitamins and nutrients to be healthy:  Vitamin A, Niacin B3 and Tryptophan, Riboflavin B2, Biotin B7, Vitamin C, and Omega Threes.  Remember that the eight B vitamins work together.  Just taking high doses of just one, vitamin like B12, can cause a deficiency in the others.  Taking high doses of B12 can mask a Folate B9 deficiency.  If you take B12, please take a B Complex, too.  Thiamine B1 can be taken in high doses safely without toxicity.  Thiamine is needed by itself to produce energy so every cell in the body can function, but Thiamine also works with the other B vitamins to make life sustaining enzymes and digestive enzymes.  Deficiencies in either Niacin, Vitamin C, or Thiamine can cause digestive problems resulting in Pellagra, Scurvy, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi.   If you change your diet, you will change your intestinal microbiome.  Following the Autoimmune Protocol Diet, a Paleo diet, will starve out SIBO bacteria.  Thiamine keeps bacteria in check so they don't get out of control as in SIBO.  Thiamine also keeps MOLDS and Yeasts from overgrowth.   Menopause symptoms and menstrual irregularities are symptomatic of low Vitamin D.   Doctors are not as knowledgeable about malnutrition as we need them to be.  A nutritionist or dietician would be more helpful.   Take control of your diet and nutrition.  Quit looking for a pill that's going to make you feel better overnight.  The Celiac journey is a marathon, not a sprint.   "Let food be your medicine, and let medicine be your food."

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

Anyone experimented with Taurine supplementation either via electrolyte powders or otherwise? Thanks
