13 Months Old, To Biopsy Or Not?

We decided to do the biopsy and it was positive for celiac!

We have been gluten free for two weeks. My son's appetite has improved soooo much. His poop looks better, still soft, and he only pooped once yesterday.

I'm greatful to have an answer.

I have celiac and I'm pretty sure my son does too (He's 13 months now). I figure when he's older and can somewhat make the choice to be diagnosed that is when we'll do the biopsy. When he needs to know that it will make him sick to eat gluten and not just because I'm trying to be mean. Until then he's gluten free because mommy loves him and says so. But it is a hard adjustment especially if you're not gluten free it must be even more difficult.

      What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.

      Shingles is dormant and related to chicken pox when one has had in the past.Shingles comes out when stress is heightened.I had my 3rd Shingles in 2023.

      Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute.
