Need A New Doctor In Ct

It has been suggested by several members that I look for a new doctor to get a proper diagnosis. I recently had an endoscopy done and tested positve for celiac sprues; however, bloodwork was negative. My current doctor says its only a gluten allergy and not celiac. From what I have read and what members have written, I believe it is celiac. I am looking for a second opinion but can't seem to locate anyone who might specialize in this area in the state of CT. Does anyone have any names?

Thanks for your help.

Kathleen

Kathleen,

I don't know of any Doctors in your area, but I will post a local link to support groups in your area.

If either blood work or through endo/biopsy you test positive for Celiac...that is a diagnosis. Both tests can very inaccurate. You do have Celiac. Do you have your pathology report back from your endoscopy? That should tell you the findings and diagnosis/comments.

Your best source of information is right here on Celiac.com.

Hi Kathleen, any luck with finding a doctor? My doctor gave me the names of three GI doctors who he says are good, but I would prefer to go directly to a doctor who has specific experience with Celiac disease (also, I wasn't happy with another specialist he's sent me to). I'm not sure how to find that information out without an office visit.

If you haven't had success, yet, I can give you the names of the one's I have (all three are in the same office in Trumbull).

I've used the same gastroenterlogist in the Bridgeport area for the last 15 years. If you contact me directly, I can give you his name and number.

I went to a urgent care for treatment of the injury. I told the doctor I had experienced pain and inflamation in my leg while doing a particular move on a climbing road. The Doctor had a ct taken of the shoulder. The ct doctor had the ct machine set to high so the 1st ct was to over exsposed, the 2nd ct was still a little over exposed but they used it to evaluate the injury.

Would you be able to share the names of the doctors you're seeing in Trumbull? I'm newly diagnosed and live in the area. Thanks!

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
