Need Help: I'm Looking For...

O.K., so I want to use roosters to decorate my kitchen. However, I want to use them sparingly (i.e. no rooster wallpaper and curtains, etc.). And I want the roosters to look "classy"...not dollar store roosters. Anybody have any ideas?

I checked Home Interiors, but they are not selling decorative roosters right now, I also went in Kirklands (southern store) but still no luck. I could try a Hallmark store, but everything in there tends to be SO expensive!

I'm looking for cheap sophisticated roosters. My mother donated two "special order" plates to me, and they are very nice.

I would fill the rest in with greenery if I didn't have a toddler and a cat who try to eat everything, and I'm not very fond of plastic plants.

Any thoughts? How do you have your kitchen decorated? I'm not a minimalist, but I do like to avoid clutter.

Any other nontraditional themes I could decorate with? Just looking for ideas.

Check antique shops . . . they've got some pretty need old/unique stuff and not necessarily pricey. . . IMO, better for looking old and worn. I would recommend looking at the places that rent out booths to the small time dealers. They tend to have the smaller items and usually cheaper prices because they don't know what they've stumble upon at a yard sale. I found a great cast iron rooster trivet for my MIL in an antique shop.

I've never used Ebay before...don't laugh...I think I'm the only person in the U.S. who has never purchased an item off Ebay. But it can't hurt to browse...and possibly buy.

The idea about looking in small consignment shops really may be the answer. I can think of one that is in-town, and I could probably go next weekend.
