I saw the post about almost everything at Chipotle maybe being okay. I have seen this restaurant but have never been there. What is it like? What are the prices like?

Chipotle is primarily a burrito place that custom makes your burrito from a variety of ingredients available. All of the ingredients are gluten free except the tortilla itself. You can get the bowl which has everything except the tortilla. The issue is cross-contamination as the flour tortillas move down the assembly line.

One recommended step is to ask the server to use fresh gloves but my experience trying that was that the server understood just enough english to get the ingredient and I didn't know enough spanish to make my point.

I liked the place prior to diagnosis so I've tried it several times post-diagnosis. My record is noticable gluten symptoms about 20% of the time.

This place is pretty good. When I worked at my last office, my celiac coworker and I used to go here all the time. We almost always got the barbacoa without any problems. (He was super sensitive.) The one thing you have to watch out for is when it's super busy, the workers can go on autopilot. I've almost gotten shreds of cheese from the next person's bowl. Just be insistent that they make it again. The managers are typically understanding about this.

One thing we all learned is that you have to do one order at a time or it messes up the assembly line. They will mess it up if you want multiple orders. (There's a window for that.)

I think of it as a mexican version of subway. Its that kind of assembly line. You cannot eat the burrito, but I believe you can have the crunchy taco shell, or you can get the bowl w no shell. (I havent actually gone out since i went off gluten either) You can choose rice (or no rice - too much starch for me), what kind of meat (or black beans instead of meat), cheese or no cheese, a few toppings, what kind of salsa. It does get very busy during the lunch rush, so go for the first time slightly off time.

I go to Chipotle all the time. I ask for them to change gloves and get a chicken burrito bowl and the chips every time. I've Never had a problem with them. It's my number one good-food-fast place to eat. The menu isn't complicated, very basic, but so yummy!

Chipotle is awesome. I just had it for lunch actually. Us celiacs can have everything but the burrito and the soft tacos. Both use flour tortillas. You can get the crunchy tacos or a bol. I usually get the bol, it's awesome. You tell them everything you want and they do it. It's great. It's reasonably priced also. Love it. =)

It's pretty good. I like the chicken bol. The cost is around 5.50-6.00 I think.

I was at a chipotle this past weekend and asked the manager for an allergen list. They have a card that lists out what items have gluten. They recommend NOT getting the chicken because of the marinade. I was happy to find out that their rice, veggies, black beans and chips did not contain gluten.

I got this off their website. I always read the chicken was safe. Maybe the restaurant at your city uses a different marinade per the bottom warning. That's interesting. Maybe I should ask my restaurant.

      You might try Heallix.  It's a silver solution with fulvic acid. I just put the solution on with a cotton ball.  It seemed to stop the nerve pain. Again,  not in your eyes or ears.   Go to heallix.com to read more about it and decide for yourself Also,  I do think nerve and celiac combined have a lot to do with your susceptibility to shingles breaking out.

      Celiac disease requires both genetic potential and a triggering stress event to activate the genes. Otherwise it remains dormant and only a potential problem. So having the genetic potential is not deterministic for celiac disease. Many more people have the genes than actually develop the disease. But if you don't have the genes, the symptoms are likely being caused by something else.

      Yes, i pulled raw ancetry data and saw i have 2/3 markers for DQ2.2 but have heard from friends in genetics that this raw data can be wildly innacurate

      Thanks, I’m still dealing with the pain and tingling and itching and feeling like bugs or something crawling around on my face and scalp. It’s been a miserable experience. I saw my eye doc last week, the eye itself was okay, so they didn’t do anything. I did take a 7 day course of an antiviral. I’m hoping for a turnaround soon! My life is full of stress but I have been on / off the gluten free diet for the last year , after being talked into going back on gluten to have a biopsy, that looked okay. But I do have positive antibody levels that have been responsive  to a gluten free diet. I can’t help but wonder if the last year has caused all this.

      I don't think any apps are up to date, which is exactly why this happened to you. Most of the data in such apps is years old, and it doesn't get updated in real time. Ultimately there is no substitution for learning to read labels. The following two lists are very helpful for anyone who is gluten sensitive and needs to avoid gluten when shopping. It's very important to learn to read labels and understand sources of hidden gluten, and to know some general information about product labelling--for example in the USA if wheat is a possible allergen it must be declared on a product's ingredient label like this: Allergens: Wheat.
