am 31 years old I have iron and folic acid deficient anemia, along with that I have extreme fatigue to the point I could sleep 15 or more hours continuosly and still feel like I have not slept a wink, with that comes with the loss of sex drive. There are times when I do not have a bowel movement in an entire week and then times when I have several loose in a day. I have had a headache for 1 month it stopped hurting for about 4 hours after the er gave me an IV with Torridol. I have brittle nails and hair .I also have left upper abdominal burning and pain, I have not been able to function normally for about a month and have no idea what to do next. They have completed blood work and so far the only thing that came back was anemia. The er completed a ct scan of my head and they said it was normal, They have prescribed percocet to me for the head ache which is not helping by the way. I am not one of the people who like the feeling of being drugged I would prefer someone find out what is wrong and help fix me then drug me. Does anyone have any idea what this may be? I have not told my dr about the pain because when I went for all of the other symptoms I was not having that pain. My mother told me 2 days ago that her grandmother passed away from leukemia so that has me worried as well. About 6 years ago I had my gallbladder removed so Im almost certain it is nothing to do with that. I believe I suffer from lactose intolerance I have severe gas, stomache pains etc with milk products but still feel nasueas all the time.

Sex drive loss, extreme fatigue, constipation... could be Adrenal Fatigue.

Do you have light sensitivity or do you crave salt? Do you have dark circles under your eyes?

Oh My yes I do crave salt and I have dark circles under my eyes! I have been craving salt so much I feel like I could drink and entire container of it.

Wow. As I was reading this, I thought maybe I had written it and forgotten. You sound a whole like me, except for the gall bladder part. That and after my MRI for the head aches for six weeks straight, my doc didn't prescribe me a thing, or even suggest a follow up visit.

I have no real advice, as I'm still going through testing myself to see if we can figure out what the deal is. I just wanted to say that you're not alone, and I wish you much luck and a speedy recovery.

Kay Sweetie, Dr Collette is going to write you a prescription for Adrenal Fatigue

morning: 2 RAW ADRENAL caps (I eat Solaray)

1 vitamin C (1000 mg)

1 200 MG Magnesium Chelate

noon: 2 Raw Adrenal Caps

1 vitamin C (1000)

1 200 MG Magnesium Chelate

bedtime: 2 Raw Adrenal Caps

1 vitamin C (1000)

for mild adrenal fatigue it will take about a year to heal

severe 2 years.

For hair|nails take 5000 mcg of Biotin a day (that is from the adrenal fatigue too)

I have this... B)

Make sure your supplements are gluten free!

I get my Solaray @ Health food store you can order online if you do a search.

Be well!

Are you gluten free yet? Your issues do sound like they could be celiac or gluten related. I would ask the doctor for a celiac panel if he has not done one yet. If he has and it was negative and you don't plan on having an endoscopy then give the diet a try. That should be your first step and if the issues don't resolve after a few months gluten-free then start looking for other causes.

For the fatigue you may not be utilizing B12. I would add a sublingual B12 to your diet on a daily basis and see if that helps.

The advice to supplement your glands is appropriate IF you know for sure that they are deficient or you are under the care of a naturopathic MD who has determined they would be beneficial.

Just a gluten free diet is not enough.  Now you have to identify and replenish your malnutrition.  Celiac disease is co-morbid with malabsorption syndrome.  Low vitamin D, Low Thiamine caused Gastointeston Beriberi, low choline, low iodine are common the general population, and in newly diagnosed Celiacs in the western culture its is more likely.  It takes time to heal and you need to focus on vitamins and minerals.  Gluten free foods are not fortified like regular processed foods.

Dear Kitty Since March I have been following your recommendations regarding vitamins to assist with various issues that I have been experiencing.  To recap, I am aged 68 and was late diagnosed with Celiac about 12 years ago.  I had been experiencing terrible early morning headaches which I had self diagnosed as hypoglycaemia.  I also mentioned that I had issues with insomnia, vertigo and brain fog.   It's now one year since I started on the Benfotiamine 600 mg/day.  I am still experiencing the hypoglycaemia and it's not really possible to say for sure whether the Benfotiamine is helpful.  In March this year, I added B-Complex Thiamine Hydrochloride and Magnesium L-Threonate on a daily basis, and I am now confident to report that the insomnia and vertigo and brain fog have all improved!!  So, very many thanks for your very helpful advice. I am now less confident that the early morning headaches are caused by hypoglycaemia, as even foods with a zero a GI rating (cheese, nuts, etc) can cause really server headaches, which sometimes require migraine medication in order to get rid off.  If you are able to suggest any other treatment I would definitely give it a try, as these headaches are a terrible burden.  Doctors in the UK have very limited knowledge concerning dietary issues, and I do not know how to get reliable advice from them. Best regards,

@rei.b,  I understand how frustrating starting a new way of eating can be.  I tried all sorts of gluten-free processed foods and just kept feeling worse.  My health didn't improve until I started the low histamine AIP diet.  It makes a big difference.   Gluten fits into opioid receptors in our bodies.  So, removing gluten can cause withdrawal symptoms and reveals the underlying discomfort.  SIBO can cause digestive symptoms.  SIBO can prevent vitamins from being absorbed by the intestines.  Thiamine insufficiency causes Gastrointestinal Beriberi (bloating, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea or constipation).  Thiamine is the B vitamin that runs out first because it can only be stored for two weeks.  We need more thiamine when we're sick or under emotional stress.  Gastric Beriberi is under recognised by doctors.  An Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test is more accurate than a blood test for thiamine deficiency, but the best way to see if you're low in thiamine is to take it and look for health improvement.  Don't take Thiamine Mononitrate because the body can't utilize it well.  Try Benfotiamine.  Thiamine is water soluble, nontoxic and safe even at high doses.  I thought it was crazy, too, but simple vitamins and minerals are important.  The eight B vitamins work together, so a B Complex, Benfotiamine,  magnesium and Vitamin D really helped get my body to start healing, along with the AIP diet.  Once you heal, you add foods back in, so the AIP diet is worth doing for a few months. I do hope you'll consider the AIP diet and Benfotiamine.

Imemsm, Most of us have experienced discontinued, not currently available or products that suddenly become seasonal.   My biggest fear about relocating from Maryland to Florida 5 years ago, was being able to find gluten-free foods that fit my restricted diet.  I soon found out that the Win Dixie and Publix supper markets actually has 99% of their gluten-free foods tagged, next to the price.  The gluten-free tags opened up a  lot of foods that aren't actually marked gluten-free by the manufacture.  Now I only need to check for my other dietary restrictions.  Where my son lives in New Hartford, New York there's a Hannaford Supermarket that also has a gluten-free tag next to the price tag.  Hopefully you can locate a Supermarket within a reasonable travel distance that you can learn what foods to check out at a Supermarket close to you.  I have dermatitis herpetiformis too and I'm very sensitive to gluten and the three stores I named were very gluten-free friendly.  Good Luck
