Hospital With Glutening?

I have never gone to the hospital because of a glutening. Not because it wasn't bad enough(it certainly is painful and achy, vomit and diarrhea filled) but I didn't know that they could do anything for me other than provide a bed and puke bucket. Sorry if I sound rude I am really not trying to be. What can they do for you to make you feel better?

well

as someone who has just been to the hospital let me tell you! Now, not all hospitals are as nice as this one, and my reactions are more than just puking and d....I also pass out and occasionally start talking crazy ( which I never remember) but the hospital always immediately starts an IV to replenish the fluids, gives me something to stop the vomiting and then a pain medication b/c my stomach seizes up for hours even after the vomiting stops...anyways, I would never go just for d or even throwing up, but usually when I pass out it scares my hubby pretty good enough to get me there quick so they can help...But seriously if you get sick enough they can at the very least stop the vomiting and d and help with the pain after...if you get intense pain after! its no fun for sure but sometimes when the pain is bad enough desperate times call for desperate measures!

I have passed out and my stomach seizes for soooooooo long I feel like I have no hope left, I have been puking before for up to 10 days because of a glutening. I'm not talking like one time after another but a really bad spell 6 hours and another one. Another symptom is this shaking and excessive sweating, so I am really glad to know that if it lasts 3-4 days as usual I can go and have something done about it seen that most of the time I cannot eat or drink anything(which obviously causes dehydration). So thanks for the info!

In addition to the things already mentioned, they can also give you an oral steroid. It helps to prevent they symptoms from dragging out over multiple days, which I have had happen. But only when I was bad enough to end up in the ER due to the dehydration side of things.

A friend of mine is in the bar trade most of his life and has never heard of lines being mixed for different type of beers and ciders. Better to stick with cans.

Thanks very much for confirming my suspicion @Scott Adams! That helps a lot because I'm really trying to track down and get rid of these sources of cross-contact and so I'm going to just rule out the draft ciders and hope that helps. Also @Rogol72 its nice to hear you haven't had a problem on that side of the pond - draft cider lines being used for cider only certainly sounds like the right way to do it, but I think that must not always be practiced over here!

I didn't ask a doctor about this actually. I did ask several doctors a long time ago and they told me gluten has nothing to do with hashimoto's. One of them told me to do a gluten challenge to test for celiac, but at the time I was in graduate school so couldn't afford to be even more ill than I was. If you have the symptoms, I really don't advise you to do a gluten challenge. It messed me up mentally and physically for months. At the same time, I benefitted from doing the challenge in the sense that it convinced me that all my symptoms were truly from gluten - even stuff like insomnia! So now I am terrified to eat gluten, whereas before I would have a little once in a while and not notice anything dramatic.

I am in a similar situation where I can't feasibly do a gluten challenge but have all the symptoms and I have 2 celiac genes. I'm curious if your doctor advised you to eat as if you had a diagnosis or if they were more dismissive about it.

Negative, although I had most of the symptoms of celiac disease. I now eat as if I had a diagnosis.
