Crockpot Baked Potatoes.

Yeah, I know. Baked potatoes aren't hard to do. They even make them for the microwave now, although I prefer mine to be actually baked. Doing them in the microwave gives them more of a steamed quality, I think. When done in the oven, I don't ever wrap them in foil because I thought that would steam them too. But I used foil for the crocpot and they came out with a nice, crispy skin.

I saw a variety of recipes for these. All said to wash, prick the skin with a fork, then wrap in foil. Some said to dry the potatoes or the foil would rust. I didn't do this and didn't have a problem. I used the giant bakers. Daughter loves that kind. I bought 4 and they totally took up my 3 quart crock.

The recipes I saw said to cook on low for 8-10 hours. Normally I would start out on high for an hour and a half and I think I should have. I cooked mine on low for about 6 hours and they felt hard as a rock, so I did another hour on high. Soon I could smell the potatoey goodness in the air!

I am having mine as a stuffed potato, with margarine, faux cheddar, crumbled bacon and sliced green onion. I made a ham with pineapple, green beans and apple crisp for husband and daughter. And wouldn't you know, husband isn't eating!

At any rate, this is going to be something I make on a regular basis. It's something I can put on in the morning and have it done when daughter gets home from dance class. Then all I have to do is a quick to fix meat.

Thanks for posting this, Julie! I love baked potatoes, but I really don't like them in the microwave. I love my crockpot and have seen baked potatoes but haven't tried it yet.

Wth kids at two different school and activities after school, the crockpot is my life saver!! I think I'll do a baked potato and salad night next week!

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
