Or am I wishing for the impossible? :(

I've adjusted pretty well to the whole no gluten/soy/dairy/eggs cooking... but every now and then I just run into something I can't figure out a way to substitute.

Anyone have experience making a good cake icing this way? Suggestions to try?

It's not exactly heathly but the Open Original Shared Link will work. At the bottom there is a note for pure white icing that uses shortening and water. You can add cocoa for chocolate frosting. Spectrum Palm Oil Shortening is gluten, dairy, soy and egg free.

I was going to suggest a buttercream made with Spectrum Shortening, also. The recipe on the Domino 10x sugar box works very well with the Spectrum. For chocolate, add 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder--I use Nestle's.

Patti, Janet... thanks!

Healthy? Pff! Since when is icing supposed to be healthy anyways! ;)

I'll be trying this tonight!

LOL! Yes, the whole is it healthy question kind of goes out the window when you can only eat 12 things! BTW the Cause You're Special cake mixes are awesome. I am pretty sure you can use egg substitute.

I second this! They are my favorite cake mixes. I make the Yellow into a spice cake sometimes.

Icing or frosting? For icing, you can just use powdered sugar, vanilla and liquid of your choice to get to the right consistancy-water, juice, etc...

Are you taking a B 6 supplement or a supplement containing B 6 like a B Complex?  Do you have pins and needles in your toes?   Don't worry about the thiamine being high.  The blood is a transport system that carries thiamine to the cells so they can store it.  It's fine.

Quick question, had some blood tests done again and once again my zinc was too low but now ofcourse my B1 was too high and so was my B6. The doc said to  immediately  stop all supplements that contain B6. Can using thiamine raise the levels of B6 too?

Welcome to the forum, @NCalvo822! Ditto to what Scott said. But let me ask you, what method or methods did your physician use to diagnose you as having celiac disease? Normally, it is a two step process. The first step involves a blood test that looks for certain antibodies produced by celiac disease. The second step involves an upper GI scoping and biopsy of the small bowel lining to check for the damage to the lining typically caused by celiac disease. This second step is used as confirmation of the blood work when the antibody testing turns up some positives. Occasionally, positive antibody tests scores can be caused by things besides celiac disease. Which of these were done or did you have both done before the doc declared you to have celiac disease?

Thanks for sharing this info! Frustrating to see companies who haven't used wheat as an ingredient start to do so! https://blistex.com/product/five-star-lip-protection/
