my son was doing fantastically on his gluten-free diet until I started making his bread using a recipe that contained instant yeast. as soon as I stopped the yeast, all was fine again. has anyone else experienced this? Does instant yeast also contain gluten? Or maybe it's a seperate issue all together??

I just have trouble with yeast.

Some people have issues with yeast so maybe he's just sensitive to the yeast. Does this happen when you use other types of yeast?

Red Star and Fleischmann's are gluten-free.

My son seems to have reacted to the gluten-free bread I made for him which contained instant yeast. There was nothing else new in his diet and when I stopped the bread, his tummy cleared. Has anyone heard of this before? Does yeast contain gluten?? Or maybe there is a seperate yeast issue going on. Advice please!!

When I used to make bread, I did find instant yeast that stated gluten free on it. Some of us do react to yeast. I found gluten free bread to be too heavy, and generally did not feel well after eating it. It may have been because of the grain for me, I can no longer eat grains.

I think you can make some breads without yeast, try that, or, look for gluten free yeast.

Thanks, this is helpful. I have never really paid attention to the type of yeast as I never considered it would have gluten in it or cause an issue by itself. Toast is my fall-back when he refuses his food - he loves toast - so I need to find a recipe that is gluten, dairy, soy and yeast free - know of any?

I am a big fan of Open Original Shared Link dry mixes. Open Original Shared Link has quite a few yeast-free recipes that are also dairy and soy free. I use water in place of milk in bread recipes. For butter, I use olive oil. You could also use coconut oil, dfsf margarine, or Spectrum Palm Oil Shortening.

Here is an interesting tidbit to read:

Open Original Shared Link

Switch to "active dry" and see if he reacts to it.

I just posted this in another section. Could there be a reaction to MSG? Check out the list I found.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
