I Just Have To Say How Happy I Am

We just got back from a 3 day road trip. We ate out 1x/day for 4 days straight. I packed most of the food for myself and my celiac 12 month old. I've been working on keeping him gluten-free, but it is extremely hard with a toddler once we leave home, as they are apt to put anything into their mouths. Since we started our gluten-free household 7 months ago, we have usually had 1-2 glutenings/month for ds. I was resigned to the fact that we would get glutened on our trip. I am thrilled to report that we made it through a chinese buffet, and american buffet, a wendy's and a steakhouse without incident!! It's so empowering to me to know that it's possible to stay gluten-free on the road. It's one thing to say you are gluten-free, but something else entirely to reach the point where you know you aren't getting secretly glutened, and you are informed and forceful enough to survive restaurants safely. I hope everyone can get here.

thanks for listening,

happy happy mom of a celiac toddler.

Awesome!! If you can do it with a toddler, the rest of us adults can surely do it. Can you share what kind of foods you chose at the buffets?

Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.

Welcome to the forum! This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):    This article may also be helpful:

Many years ago yes, after eating and going to bed, apparently my esophagus filled with food that my body rejected, the esophagus would lay against the Heart sack (pericardium?) and the heart would respond by becoming arrhythmic. That went away with the strict diet.

I was commenting on the report saying it did not mention migraines! Yes it does last paragraph says have not seen any evidence that Celiac cause migraines! I thought this was about truth?

It has been known for some years that celiacs suffer from migraines at a higher rate than the general populatation. It is an established symptom.
