I'm getting married next year in my hometown of Austin. Is there a bakery in the Austin area that does Gluten Free Wedding Cakes? Thanks!

Just did a quick Google search and found the WildWood Art Cafe (Open Original Shared Link). Site doesn't mention if they do wedding cakes, but it would be worth a phone call for sure!

I'm thinking that as health concious as Austin is, that there are likely to be more places, but that's all I found in a quick search.

I know it would be a hike, but there's also a place in Plano (North Dallas) that does gluten-free cakes - Delicious N' Fit/Laura's Bistro.

Hope that helps! If all else fails, maybe you could find a celiac friend to (help?) bake one?

EDITED TO ADD: Just realized you are in Dallas, so you probably already knew about Laura's Bistro!

My sister lives in Austin, so I'll see if she knows of any additional bakeries that do gluten-free cakes. :)

Wild Wood is probably your best bet, have not been there but have heard it's wonderful!

The only other gluten free bakery I know of is Open Original Shared Link they do cookies, Whole Foods may be able to special order you something they do gluten free baked goods.

Oh I just remembered this bakery from an old search Open Original Shared Link

congratulations! enjoy the craziness of wedding planning!

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
