Don't Think That Candida Is An Issue?

The Medical Profession dismisses Candida and generally deems it of no consequence.

Yet many who are Celiac/Gluten Intolerant are plagued with it. Many more don't even know they have it and are completely oblivious that it is Candida that is causing their health issues.

I am not endorsing any products or services that they sell but the following article is extremely enlightening about Candida and what it is capable of doing to us all.........

AliB, thanks for posting this and all the other info. I am sure it helps many and is an eye opener too.

A little bit of mold can eat thru an entire hay stack. (I have been dealing with it this year)

A little bit of yeast can off set the whole body.

I have it, it exists, it is like plague and doctors (many) are ignoring it once again.

If it wasn't for the inernet I would still be extremely sick. thanks for the post.

Information, without reference, coming from a site that is also trying to sell products that have not had third-party testing or clinical studies. If I was trying to a bottle of random herbs for $30, I'd tell you how it even cures cancer...

Just because something is posted on the internet does not mean it's true. Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth is a real condition and it may be related to celiac disease, but "candida overgrowth" is a made-up disorder used by "snake-oil" salesmen to sell you products that you do not need.

....Of course I didn't believe it exists just because I've read it on the internet.....I am not that desperate!!

If you don't want to name it candida then don't. I just know that something is inside of me making me ill whenever I get carbs and that from day 3 of my candida treatment my white tongue turned red again, and after a week most of my symptoms went away.

So if it is candida, or bacterials, or parasites or monsters or aliens I really don't care. As long as the diet + supplements are making me feel extremely better, I am fine with the company that is taking my money.

And it is not a placebo, cause I really don't have the ability to make me period be regular and heavier or make my nails and my hair grow back or turn my tongue red and get rid of all that thrush.

So if you believe that it doesn't exist, that' s ok. I know better my body than anyone else and I'll just keep on listening to it.

I am sorry, I totally disagree with that. Systemic Candida infestation is well-documented. Reference is made by many sites and publications that are not selling anything - I only posted that particular site because the information was very comprehensive. I did say that I do not endorse anything they sell. Based on my fairly extensive knowledge of Candida and what it can do, I felt that, any products aside, it is a very realistic article. Google SIBO and Celiac and you will get a lot of quite 'kosher' references to it. Google Candida and Celiac and you will also get a lot of kosher references.

What is SIBO if not Candida overgrowth? Granted there may be other bacteria also involved - many can be as opportunistic as Candida if given the right environment to flourish, but Candida certainly is one of the most prolific. It may start in the large intestine but can migrate anywhere up the gut (or down) from the mouth to the anus and even into the stomach, which should be protected by the acid but often isn't because microbes like Candida and H.Pylori have the ability to reduce the strength of the stomach acid in order to protect themselves. Low stomach acid is a problem for a lot of people. A common test for Candida is the spit test - if you have a problem with halitosis then your spit test will almost definitely be positive.

I know that I have been battling Candida for many years. I know many others who have been battling Candida for many years. Yes, I am highly likely to be battling other microbes too - acute gut dysbiosis, caused I am certain in my case by antibiotics as a child, will mean that my gut was unprotected and vulnerable - but Candida is by far the biggest culprit.

As a yeast it is relatively harmless. As a fungus it is evil. Its mycelial 'fingers' can bore through the gut wall contributing to 'Leaky Gut' and it will travel anywhere in the body in search of food. It can give out up to 100 different known toxins depending on what it is feeding and where. A friend who had a Colonic (thinking of doing that myself) could actually see the stuff coming out of her - like cotton wool - ugh!

It is like internal dry-rot, and we all know what that can do to a building. Fungus can eat a building.

Some do not get much in the way of external signs at all which does not mean that it isn't an issue internally, but if you have athlete's foot, dandruff, halitosis, thrush, 'jock itch', fungal skin inflammations or fungal nail bed infections, then your body is definitely an excellent host for Candida and other yeasts in general.

Yes, some 'remedies' may well be snake-oil and often very expensive snake-oil, but Candida is very much alive and kicking the hell out of many of us.

A diet that removes the microbes' food source and starves them out is by far the best, and cheapest, remedy.

Candida is a fungus, not a bacterium. If you can convince someone with the power to write prescriptions that you have issues with a fungus, then you can take an antifungal for a week and clear up all your issues.

An interesting way to return your intestinal flora to normal:

states this:

One of the natural aborbers of heavy metals is candida albicans. The body attracts yeast into the intestines to act as a natural sponge for the mercury.

be sure to scroll to the "green letters" Bacteria and Yeast

sounds like those bad bugs are good for something???

So how do you get rid of the mercury and the yeast? hm...

Yes, technically it is a yeast which can become a fungus and as such does not respond to anti-bacterial treatment - but basically it is just a different type of microbe. I usually specify bacteria, yeasts and parasites in my posts, but obviously didn't this time.

Unfortunately, just 'writing a prescription' for anti-fungals is not always the answer as I and many others can testify.

There is a very recent post from someone who was given Fluconazole, felt amazing for 2 weeks then went straight back down again. The second course hardly touched it. (Her Doctor is stumped - what the heck do they teach them at Medical School???).

The reason for that is because, like bacteria, they can become resistant to the medication. Any stronger survivors will then go on to have lots of resistant babies and the anti-fungal won't touch them. They effectively stick their tongue out at us and tell us to go take a running jump (if we had the energy to do it!).

Exactly the same thing has happened due to the over, and wrong prescription of anti-biotics. We now have a very scary situation where many of the bacterial strains are now so resistant that there is little or nothing that will kill them.

Although the anti-fungals may help in a limited way they need to be supported by the right diet - a diet that gets the Candida out of its comfort zone and boots it up the backside. Although it is hard on us, it is only by removing the foods that feed it - the sugars, the long-chain carbs, the processed rubbish, and, if necessary the mercury, that we can stand any chance of getting the upper hand.

Communities and cultures that are not exposed to the pollutants, chemicals, and the highly processed, high-carb, high-sugar 'Western' diet like we are, do not generally have any problems with Candida.

If you have any of the health issues I listed in my earlier post then Candida is certainly an issue. If you suffer with fatigue and any number of other health issues then it may well be an issue.

Did you read the info on the link I posted above?

One sure test is the 'spit' test.

Get a clean glass of water. Swish some saliva around your mouth for about 30 seconds then spit it into the water.

If it is clear, Candida is unlikely - unless the overgrowth is just confined to the lower gut and bowel area. If the spit is white and strands sink down from the spittle into the water after a few seconds then systemic Candida is certainly an issue right through your gut.

This is an interesting research link.

It picks up on the problems with oral Candida and other pathogens.

That may be one reason why anti-fungals only manage to keep the infection at bay and not destroy it. Because it is present in the mouth, every time we eat or swallow we are sending more of the little beggars down the digestive tract.

Anti-fungals come in capsule or tablet form, so do not start to work until they reach the stomach which is too late. Anti-fungal treatment should begin in the mouth.

I have just started 'oil-pulling'. It will be interesting to see what reaction I get. Certainly even after 2 days I am getting interesting results.

Some interesting articles regarding the use of Zinc Carnosine to help heal gastric ulcers, gastritis and intestinal permeability. I would consult a medical professional about it's use. https://www.nature.com/articles/ncpgasthep0778 https://www.rupahealth.com/post/clinical-applications-of-zinc-carnosine---evidence-review https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7146259/ https://www.fallbrookmedicalcenter.com/zinc-l-carnosine-benefits-dosage-and-safety/

He is. Which makes everything even more difficult. I’m not a believer in “staying for the kids” but I have nowhere to go and it’s not just me, it’s me plus my babies. We live in a beautiful place, lots of land in the country and me and the kids love the place we’ve called home for their entire lives. But Im seeing that he’ll never change, that my kids deserve a happy healthy Momma, and that staying in this as is will be the early death of me. Then I look at the scars covering my entire body…this disease and the chronic stress I’ve been enduring for years that tell me I’m no longer beautiful and no one will ever look at me with interest again. I try self care, try to give myself grace so I can just start loving myself enough to gain strength but the slightest sparkle in my eye and skip in my step attracts his wrath and it all comes crashing ten fold. Life is just absolutely railing me from every single direction leaving me wanting to wave that white flag bc I don’t feel like there’s much hope no matter what happens.

Hi, I was recently diagnosed with Celiac and dermatitis herpetiformis after years of suffering without answers. I lost my mind. I lost my job. I lost so much time. I lost Me. Conventional doctors are opulent come near me and the one who did sat across the room, misdiagnosed me, pumped me full of steroids which collapsed my entire hip for 6 months. So without answers I began my holistic journey. Fast forward a couple of years and still struggling with a mysterious whole body itchy, crawling “skin hell”, perfect teeth now deteriorating, thick hair now thinning rapidly and no more than a day or 2 at most relief….An acquaintance opened up a functional medicine practice. Cash only, I found a way. Within a month tests clearly showing my off the charts gluten allergy/sensitivity as well as the depletion of vital nutrients due to leaky gut and intestinal damage. dermatitis herpetiformis was more than likely what I was experiencing with my skin. I was happy. I thought this is easy, eat healthy Whole Foods, follow the diet restrictions and I finally get to heal and feel confident and like myself again very soon! 😔 Supplements are very pricey but I got them and began my healing. Which leads to the other major issue: not working, stay at home Mom of young kids, entirely financially dependent on my man of 7 plus years. He’s never been supportive of anything I’ve ever done or been thru. He controls everything. I’m not given much money ever at a time and when he does leave money it’s only enough to possibly get gas. His excuse is that I’ll spend it on other things. So my “allowance” is inconsistent and has conditions. He withholds money from me as punishment for anything he wants. Since being diagnosed, he’s gained a new control tactic to use as punishment. He now is in control of when I get to eat. He asked for proof of my diagnosis and diet bc he said I made it up just to be able to eat expensive organic foods. Then after I sent him my file from my doctor he then said she wasn’t a real doctor. 😡. I go days upon days starving, sometimes breaking down and eating things I shouldn’t bc I’m so sick then I pay horribly while he gets annoyed and angry bc I’m not keeping up with all the duties I’m supposed to be doing. His abuse turns full on when I’m down and it’s in these desperate times when I need his support and care the most that I’m punished with silence, being starved, ignored, belittled. He will create more of a mess just bc I’m unable to get up and clean so that when I am better, I’m so overwhelmed with chores to catch up that the stress causes me to go right back into a flare from hell and the cycle repeats. I’m punished for being sick. I’m belittled for starving and asking for healthy clean water. I’m purposely left out of his life. He won’t even tell me he’s going to the grocery or to get dinner bc he doesn’t want me to ask him for anything. I have no one. I have nothing. Im not better. My supplements ran out and I desperately need Vitamin D3 and a methylated B complex at the very minimal just to function….he stares at me blankly…no, a slight smirk, no words. He’s happiest when im miserable and I am miserable.  this is so long and im condensing as much as I can but this situation is so complicated and disgusting. And it’s currently my life. The “IT” girl, the healthy, beautiful, perfect skin, perfect teeth, thick and curly locks for days, creative and talented IT girl….now I won’t even leave this house bc Im ashamed of what this has dont to my body, my skin. Im disgusted. The stress is keeping me from healing and I think he knows that and that’s why he continues to keep me in that state. He doesn’t want me confident or successful. He doesn’t want me healed and healthy bc then how would he put the blame of all his problems on me? This journey has been hell and I’ve been in Hell before. I’ve been killed by an ex, I’ve been raped, robbed, held hostage, abused beyond nightmares but the cruelty I’ve experienced from him bc of this disease is the coldest I’ve ever experienced. I’ve wanted to give up. Starving and in tears, desperate…I found a local food pantry in our small town so I reached out just saying I had Celiac and was on hard times. This woman is blessing me daily with prepared gluten free meals, donations, educational info, people who know this disease and how they manage life and the blessings just keep coming. But it’s overwhelming and I feel like I don’t deserve it at all. He just glared and I know he’s going to sabotage it somehow. I don’t even know what to do anymore. I’m so broken and just want peace and healing.

@Colleen H   I am just curious,  when you were tested for coeliac disease, did the doctors find out if you had any deficiencies? Sometimes muscle pain can be caused by certain deficiencies, for example, magnesium, vitamin D, calcium, and potassium.   Might be worth looking into having some more tests.  Pins and needles can be neuropathy, again caused by deficiencies, such as iron and B12,  which can be reversed if these deficiencies are addressed. In the UK where I live we are usually only tested for iron, B12 and vitamin D deficiencies at diagnosis.   I was very iron anemic and supplementation made a big difference.  B12 was low normal, but in other countries the UK's low normal would be considered a deficiency.  My vitamin D was low normal, and I've been supplementing ever since (when I remember to take it!) My pins and needles definitely started to improve when my known deficiencies were addressed.  My nutritionist also gave me a broad spectrum supplement which really helped, because I suspect I wasn't just deficient in what I mention above but in many other vitamins and minerals.  But a word of warning, don't take iron unless blood tests reveal you actually need it, and if you are taking it your levels must be regularly monitored because too much can make you ill.  (And if you are currently taking iron, that might actually be making your stomach sore - it did mine, so my GP changed my iron supplementation to a gentler form, ferrous gluconate). Lastly, have you been trying to take anything to lessen the pain in your gut?  I get a sore stomach periodically, usually when I've had too much rich food, or when I have had to take an aspirin or certain antibiotics, or after glutening.  When this happens, I take for just a few days a small daily dose of OTC omeprazole.  I also follow a reflux or gastritis diet. There are lots online but the common denominators to these diets is you need to cut out caffeine, alcohol, rich, spicy, acidic food etc and eat small regularly spaced meals.   When I get a sore stomach, I also find it helpful to drink lots of water.  I also find hot water with a few slices of ginger very soothing to sip, or camomile tea.  A wedge pillow at night is good for reflux. Also,  best not to eat a meal 2-3 hours before going to bed. If the stomach pain is getting worse, though, it would be wise to see the doctor again. I hope some of this helps. Cristiana
