Massive Harmful Reaction When Ingesting Common Allergens Such As Nuts, Fish, And Dairy.

When I ingest nuts (almonds/peanuts) it feels as if my body has a massive immune response. I immediately feel massive fatigue, almost the point of passing out, my mouth and eyes become dry, I lose balance and my spine at the base of my neck feels tingly/hollow. I also experience severe brain fog, dizziness, and memory loss. This is usually followed by sleeping for 6+ hours no matter the time or day or my energy levels previously. This is what I had considered an intolerance but it isn't by the definition most of the people here use.

I have no gastro symptoms, diarrhea, bloating, or constipation - so my personal symptoms aren't defined as a food intolerance; nor are they defined by a food allergy [According to WebMD]. I have no hives, chest pain, stomach pain, nausea,

Symptoms of a food allergy can range from mild to severe, and the amount of food necessary to trigger a reaction varies from person to person. Symptoms of food allergy may include:

* Rash or hives

* Nausea

* Stomach pain

* Diarrhea

* Itchy skin

* Shortness of breath

* Chest pain

* Swelling of the airways to the lungs

* Anaphylaxis

What Are the Symptoms of Food Intolerance?

Symptoms of food intolerance include:

* Nausea

* Stomach pain

* Gas, cramps or bloating

* Vomiting

* Heartburn

* Diarrhea

* Headaches

* Irritability or nervousness

The symptoms that I experience when eating nuts are also felt when I eat fish (especially Sardines), and to a lesser extent when I eat dairy, corn, and soy. They are very - very - very pronounced and yet I feel like I'm the only one here that experiences them.

Gluten exposure to me means a slow response over two weeks; yet when I eat these foods I feel like my body is eating itself up immediately for the next few hours. The response becomes worse the longer I eliminate these foods from my diet. I never had a problem with these foods prior to my gluten free diet that I started around a year and a half ago.

So am I the only one here with this response? It doesn't seem like a simple "food intolerance"... I'm thinking it may be something else, whether it be related to a physical digestive problem or small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. There has to be a reason I'm reacting so strongly to these foods, in a way it's more pronounced than when I ingest gluten even though gluten/dairy are the only ones that cause digestive symptoms.

And why would I response more to a can of sardines than a can of tuna? Why did these reactions come out of nowhere? And why are the symptoms more pronounced than those when I ingest gluten?

Well, just as not every Celiac experiences D, weight loss, or other "classic" Celiac symptoms, not everyone with other food intolerances or allergies will have the "classic" responses either.

It sounds to me like a severe intolerance or allergy. Keep in mind that the medical industry defines these things based on what's typically expected. Their definition is seldom adequate for every case. If it were, we'd all get diagnosed a whole lot faster.

Anyway, at least you know what foods to avoid.

It sounds like food allergy to me. It sounds like blood pressure from ingestion of food.

I would ask for food allergy testing and stay away from the nuts for the time being.

Re the almond/peanut = nut allergy:

peanuts are legumes (peas, lentils, soy etc) most people who are allergic to peanuts are actually allergic to the mold on the peanut because they do not experience the same symptoms when eating peas or lentils or soy products; HOWEVER, there are those that are actually allergic/intolerant to legumes and can't consume any legumes at all (my best friend has this allergy)

almonds are tree nuts and for some reason many people who are allergic to nuts may also be allergic to shell fish

I found this on a Canadian site regarding the fish allergies and it sounds like "histamine reaction" or Vasoactive amine (I didn't know what this was so I looked it up:

vasoactive amine

A substance, such as histamine or serotonin, that contains amino groups and is pharmacologically characterised by its action on the blood vessels (altering vascular caliber or permeability).

)

I wonder if this could be the cause of your reactions to those foods???

High levels of histamine develop when fish, such as anchovies, mackerel, mahi-mahi and tuna, are not properly frozen or refrigerated. Histamine poisoning causes symptoms similar to seafood allergic reactions and can often be mistaken for a fish, crustacean or shellfish allergic reaction.

Nonimmunologic Reactions to Food

Lactose intolerance is the most common nonimmunologic adverse reaction to food and is often confused with milk allergy. In the intestines, a deficiency of the lactase enzyme, necessary to digest lactose, may cause diarrhea, cramps, flatulence, and bloating.

Well I just had the same reaction w/ both mushrooms and then again with goat's cheese. It's almost as if I can't touch any common allergen. I never had problems with any of these foods prior to going to gluten free... and I can't explain just how bad of a response it is. Feels like I am getting injected with a tranquilizer and getting knocked out for 2-3 hours depending on the reaction, with nuts 5-8 hours.

I also got my blood tested.

I have extremely low testosterone, 204 (normal 400-700) and I'm only 22. My cortisol/Aldosterone is very very low, doing an ACTH stim to check for addison's.

Reverse T3 was also very high, so hmm....

      But M&M's contain milk, and would not be at all like a Tootsie Roll.

      I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets for disability because I show no signs of celiac BECAUSE IM GLUTENFREE! Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver.After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

      M&M Peanuts. About the same calories and sugar while M&M Peanuts have fiber, potassium, iron and protein that Tootsie Rolls ("We are currently producing more than 50 million Tootsie Rolls each day.") don't. Click the links to compare nutritional values.  Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.  I use them as a gluten free substitute for a peanut butter sandwich.  Try her on grass fed, pasture fed milk. While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

      I see it everyday on my feeds.  They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts.  I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field.  Some days I would just like to scream.  So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach them properly. I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.
