Hi-

I am brand new to this board and recently a friend of mine told me that my teeth enamal problems could be from Celiac disease. I also have problems with having bathroom emergencies (TMI). Does any one else have these problems?

It is very common for tooth enamel in celiacs to be defective. In some countries dentists are one of the first to suggest testing when they see thin enamel and lots of cavities.

By the way there really is no such thing as TMI here. :)

The first thing you should do before restricting your diet is go to your doctor and ask for a full celiac panel including a total IGA. It is also helpful to ask for a vitamin and mineral levels as we often are low in B12, iron, folate and others.

It can be - here is a good article about it.

Dental Enamel Defects and Celiac Disease

Celiac disease manifestations can extend beyond the classic gastrointestinal problems, affecting any organ or body system. One of these manifestations

Haha Bathroom emergencies! As I like to say, "It's all fun and games until you poo your pants!"...at 25, 26, 27...I like to share my stories with my grandmother who refuses to leave her house because she's scared she'll have an accident.

You are in good company here! The more I read on this forum the more I realize I'm not the only one that carries an "emergency" kit in their purse! I am glad you brought up the enamel problems-I am having an endoscopy at the end of this month to hopefully make a celiac diagnosis. I have had discolored enamel on my two front teeth since they came in. My mother also has these discolorations, so I always thought they were hereditary-which I guess they could be, through celiac disease.

Do you only have emergencies or periods of constipation too? I have been diagnosed with IBS, but after two fractured feet (leading to a dexa scan, which lead to osteopenia diagnosis), a B-12 deficiency, and Raynaud's disease, my gastroenterologist decided to do the EGD. I have had a negative celiac blood test.

I am still eating gluten, but paying careful attention to the way my body reacts after I eat it. Most of the time, it's not pretty!

Have you gone to a gastroenterologist yet? Good luck and keep reading the forum, there is great information located all over it!

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.
