Looking For Celiac Kids In Naperville/aurora Area

My son was just diagnosed and I would love to find someone in the area who has kids with celiac disease. Aaden is 4 1/2 years old and is doing so great now that he's on the gluten-free diet!!

:D

I'm always looking for new menu ideas as well. I feel like he eats turkey, cheese, and fruit for lunch everyday.

Hi,

You can go to the website below and they have a list of ROCK ( Raising our Celiac Kids ) support goups in the US....Find your state and see if they have a group in your area....

There is a book by Danna Korn called Kids with Celiac that I have heard is a great book..I am new to the gluten-free diet myself with a 2 year old...I ordered the book last night so you may want to check into it...It was about 20.00 with shipping...

https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-53105491285.5d

Past the link and it will take you to the page with the states listed...From there you can see Danna's information.

Well I am not a expert by all means but I am learning too...

If you have any questions you can email me at

brantomlinson@aol.com

I would be more than happy to talk or just listen if you need it.

God Bless

Brandi

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
