It really depends on what your issues with food are. If you just have poor digestion in general, you want to get one that digests carbs, proteins, and fats. Most recovering celiacs really only have issues with fats, so only a lipase enzyme is necessary. However, I have found it difficult to get just a fat digesting enzyme unless you order online. So just look for a multi-one with the highest amount of lipase.

Digestive enzymes have personally helped me immensely. They make you realize how truly hungry you are and give you a great boost of energy.

I really like digestive enzymes, too. I take one by Enzymatic Therapy that is actually called gluten defense. It claims to help digest trace amounts of gluten and dairy. Digestion is one of my main issues and thanks to enzymes and acidophilus it has greatly improved. www.enzy.com is the link.

I've been taking digestive enzymes for years. The plant derived enzymes seem to work better for me than the animal derived ones. I've tried almost every digestive enzyme product out there. Probably around 20 different ones. The big thing is that it doesn't contain an ingredient called Malt Diasitase. I'm pretty sure that that ingredient comes from barley or wheat of some kind. It doesn't bother my cousin who also has celiac but that ingredient tears me up. I can't take an enzyme product if it contains that. I took digest gold from Enzymedica for years but recently switched the Thropp's Nutritions. Its cheaper and has more enzyme activity in it. I only need one of theirs with each meal. You can find it with google. Mrs. Smith posted that she uses enzymatic therapies. I've tried that one too. It's good but not very strong, they don't put very much in the capsule so I had to take 4 or 5 with each meal. Good Luck

Digestive enzymes contain lipase (to digest fat) protease (for protein) cellulase (for cellulose), etc. They replace the enzymes which our pancreas is not producing enough of. Probiotics promote a healthy gut, but do not digest the food.

I am so sorry you're going through this. It's bad enough to fight for a diagnosis and manage this disease, but to have your partner use it as a weapon against you is truly devastating. What you're describing isn't just a lack of support; it's abuse, full stop. Controlling your food and money is cruel, and his pleasure in your misery is chilling. Please hear this: the kindness from that woman at the food pantry is what you deserve. It's a glimpse of the real world, where people care. You deserve to eat, to heal, and to have peace. His actions are the biggest barrier to your health right now, and you are not broken—you are surviving in an impossible situation. Don't give up on that lifeline you've found.

Thank you.. Christina My anxiety is through the roof.  I think it was from eggs.  I really don't know because my eyes feel sore. Like I'm allergic to them.  I was defient in B12.   My heart is pounding and it won't stop.  Not sure what to do.   I don't have much support other than this forum.    Colleen

Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌
