Hi everyone, this website is brilliant.

So basically i thought I'd give this a go see what you all think....

Just wondering if you think this is celiac, like if it sounds like the kinds of symptoms you guys had?

I'm 18 and I've always been ridiculously skinny, when I was younger I would constantly eat and always be hungry and was still really really underweight, I went to the doctors when I was about 14 because I started getting really bad diorrhea( sorry but I doubt you guys have any hang ups about discussing bowel problems!haha) and bad smelling wind etc...

they wanted to do more tests but I didn't want to do anything because I didn't think there was any problems because I was so used to feeling ill!

But anyway, a couple of months ago I suddenly started getting REALLY badly bloated all the time, burping alot and feeling really tired how I used to when I was younger, but without the diorrhea, but kind of yellowy poos :S haha

Doctor originally said it was IBS but I've now been referred to a gastroenterologist who's done blood tests which I'm waiting for results for, and am having a gastroscopy...?(camera down stomach thing) in june, he said he suspects celiac.

Just wondering what you all think, any help would be much appreciated!

Sounds like classic symptoms, other than that I don't know what to tell you.

Yep you do sound like you could be one of the family. One thing that is important is that you make sure you keep eating a gluten diet until all the testing is done. After you have your scope you can then try the diet, you don't have to wait on the results. You may have the answer before you even go to the followup by your response to the diet.

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
