Hawaii/maui- The Grand Wailea

Just got back from a fabulous trip to Maui and the Grand Wailea Hotel (Open Original Shared Link). Above being a beautiful hotel with gorgeous grounds, rooms, pool and beach, The Grand Wailea is the most celiac friendly hotel I've ever been to. I called a few days ahead to let them know I am celiac/gluten intolerant and the food and beverage manager called me back a few days later to let me know they have prepared for my visit by getting gluten free flour and are prepared to accommodate just about any request from me. They made me fresh gluten free pancakes every morning, the entire wait staff at every restaurant (even poolside!) knew just from my name that I was gluten intolerant (before I even identified myself as being gluten-free). Bravo to the Grand Wailea! They really went out of their way to accommodate me, and made me feel just like everyone else on our trip when it comes to dining. :D

Yeah, that's where my family has gone most years, and I haven't had a problem there. I think I've been there a few times since going gluten free, and I've never had a problem.

I find that a lot of places that cater to tourists in Hawaii are good for gluten free food.

      @trents thank you so much for your response!  When i was diagnosed, I was exhibiting mainly joint pain, hair loss, bloating, and allodynia (painful feeling from non painful stimuli). The muscle spasms only started after diagnosis, and it seems to only happen when I am severely glutened. It’s only happened twice, but it definitely makes me nervous when it happens.    In regard to the pizza, thats what i saw after i got sick from it. I’m still trying to figure out how to switch to ALL certified gluten-free goods.    for the dressing, here is the ingredient list:  WATER, VEGETABLE OIL, VINEGAR, SUGAR, GARLIC, SALT, RED BELL PEPPER, ONION, CONCENTRATED LEMON JUICE, XANTHAN GUM, POTASSIUM SORBATE, HERBS, CALCIUM DISODIUM EDTA, MONOACETIN, SPICES. and the link: https://www.kraftheinz.com/en-CA/kraft/products/00068100903577-zesty-italian-salad-dressing

      I’ve been using almond flour from nuts.com for over 10 years. I have dermatitis herpetiformis all over. The rash started about two months ago. I finally eliminated the almond flour, labeled certified gluten free, two weeks ago, and I think the dermatitis herpetiformis is finally healing. I am so bummed.

      If you need that designation you'll likely need to switch to a different brand. It's unfortunate that they don't add it to their label and test for gluten.

      Thank you for the reply  , I have tried the Baush & Lomb brand and did have a gluten reaction.  O spoke to the mfg and they state the same as many other mfgs.   - NO Gluten intentionally added to product , but they have no control ( they choose not to) over their suppliers of various ingredients  I am really trying to only take vitamins  that clearly state gluten free
