I have been diagnosed with endometriosis, PMDD, and premature menapause (I'm 17, so it's kind of ridiculous). I was having hot flashes, growing facial hair which was NOT okay, and even on birth control, I have rupturing ovarian cysts about every other month. God, what we women have to deal with...Men have NO idea. That was probably TMI but does anyone else have these problems? I know that auto immune problems affect menses but I wasn't sure how MUCH it could affect the reproductive system. Feel free to give input... I'd love to hear everyones experiences

I never had a ruptured cysts, thank goodness but count me in for all. Thankfull my ovaries waited until my 30's before I started going through menapause but that was early for me also. My OB/GYN told me after I was diagnosed that I might start menstrating again but I had gone through menapause almost 8 years before I was diagnosed and had one light period and just that one. I saw him because after not having a period for years the bleeding was worrysome and I thought it should be checked out. He said that they don't know why celiac effects the reproductive system in women but that it does. We also tend to be more prone to miscarry and suffer infertility. Oddly enough my hot flashes stopped when I stopped the gluten, unless I get glutened then they reappear.

Its just a huge bummer about the infertility and miscarrying... Women shouldn't have to worry if they can have children, especially if they're young and mostly healthy. I must say, you are a lucky girl because a ruptured cyst is mighty painful although I imagine labor pain would be about 500 times worse, so I really can't complain :)

Once you have been gluten free for a while I think the risk of miscarrying and infertility go down. My DD has had a couple of cysts that have ruptured so although I don't have first hand experience I know the pain is horrible and I hope the diet helps alleviate the risk of more cysts for you. Labor is uncomfortable and a lot of work, the reason they call it labor. It is so worth it though once that baby is in your arms. If labor was intolerable noone would have more than one child.

Wow 17 is young <_<

I don't have much advice to offer you, but I can offer my support. Hang in there (( Hugs ))

I am 29 yrs old. I have severe problems like that as well. I was 15 when they wanted to do a complete hysterectomy and i refused. If you can tolerate the pain hang in there. I was told I would never have children and I have a 7 yr old son. :) Mine was a fall that opened my uterus just enough {as it has folded in half on its self - from the endometreosis} and I happened to ovulate that month. A miracle I know because I only ovulate about 1 time a year or less. The dr's had no explanation for any of it -"it shouldn't have been possible" they say. I have also have had 2 miscarriages after {my tubes are now tied}. I get the horrid hair on the face as well ,and have just made sure to be diligent about removing it. My last procedure the dr "scraped" my ovary to remove some of the nasty stuff and it has relieved a bit of pain. I hope you find your miracle like I did. Good luck

My niece has your symptoms and was finally dx'd with PCOS. She really struggles with her health. It has led to diabetes that at times cannot be controled. Two weeks ago she had a staph infection that led to a boil the size of a flip flop. She had to have it surgically lanced but it was so big the incision was severel inches long. I think she was close to death at that point. She is just a mess.

Desperately need a vitamin D supplement. I've reacted to most brands I've tried.

Thanks @Scott Adams. Do you know if Kirkland Signature supplements share facility and production lines with other products containing gluten?  I'm worried that I'll react to this brand just like I did with other gluten-free labelled supplement brands.

This is a really common area of confusion. Most natural cheeses (cheddar, Swiss, mozzarella, Parmesan, brie, camembert, and most blue cheeses) are inherently gluten-free, and you’re right that the molds used today are typically grown on gluten-free media. The bigger risks tend to come from processed cheeses: shredded cheese (anti-caking agents), cheese spreads, beer-washed rinds, smoke-flavored cheeses, and anything with added seasonings or “natural flavors,” where cross-contact can happen. As for yeast, you’re also correct — yeast itself is gluten-free. The issue is the source: brewer’s yeast and yeast extracts can be derived from barley unless labeled gluten-free, while baker’s yeast is generally safe. When in doubt, sticking with whole, unprocessed cheeses and products specifically labeled gluten-free is the safest approach, especially if you’re highly sensitive.

Thanks a lot for your response! Can you maybe specify which kind of cheeses I should be cautious about? Camembert/Brie and blue cheeses (the molds of which are nowadays mostly grown on gluten-free media, though, so I've read, right?) or other ones as well? Also, I was under the impression that yeast is generally gluten-free if not declared otherwise. Is that false?
