I actually don't know the answers to your questions since I've not had either of those particular GI problems before (just all of the other ones imaginable), but I just wanted to say Congrats!

Congrats!!!

From the tums website: http://www.tums.com/faq_tums.aspx#ingredient

I take them occasionally, and they've not glutened me. But I don't really find them to be super helpful with the heartburn, either. :( A piece of hard candy, though, seems to work wonders.

If it's really bad, talk to your doctor about a medication for it.

As for the other issue... I'm 32 weeks and it comes with the pregnancy territory.

Drink lots of water, fruit always helped me, too. I experienced this early on, too, but it wore off by the second trimester, when everything seems to calm down. I would strongly recommend you call your doctor before you take anything, because the first trimester is the "danger zone", so to speak. The list of things you can safely take gets bigger in the second trimester, even bigger by the third. It all has to do with what is developing when.

Make sure to check with your pharmacist. Doctors aren't usually totally up to date on all medications and restrictions, and pharmacists continually increase their knowledge and have a computer database that can help

fennel seeds (which are safe during pregnancy) can help with indigestion/heartburn.

eat small meals, frequently.

drink lots of water throughout the day - but drink hot, room temp, or cool water, as ice cold water may make it worse.

try to determine if there are any particular foods that make the problem worse.

Congratulations!!! :)

The prenatal vitamins may also be causing you to be constipated.
