Digestive Upsets

i started my gluten free diet about 5 weeks ago and the first week was the most miserable week of my life! I went to the ER twice because the pain was so intense! Afterwards though i found that i had so much more energy and i quickly adapted to the new lifestyle and foods with no problem. I read the entire label on bottles/boxes before i buy and if i have a shadow of a doubt about how it was prepared i dont buy it at all. However i am still experienceing some stomach upsets. it is not like it was before just bloating and fatigue with some mild stomach cramps. At first i thought it could be that i was eating too much sugar or grease but even after a few days of bland food the cramps continued. They come and go now and i just wanted to know if this is normal or if i am still consuming gluten without realizing it!

I had the same problems, and it turned out to be secondary food intolerances. It took some detective work and food diaries to figure it out. If that is the case, the most likely culprits are nightshades, dairy and soy. Good luck!

Do also check all your meds, script and OTC as well as your toiletries. You will also heal faster if you go with whole unprocessed foods for a bit and when you do eat processed if you see a 'made in a facility that uses wheat etc' pass on it till you have healed fully.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny...

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
