Lack Of Hunger

i'm approaching 4 weeks of being off gluten. i feel like things have stabilized pretty well. i've discovered i'm sensitive to potatoes but i haven't tried other night shades yet. my skin is clearing up on my back and stomach. i haven't had a single headache or sinus problem which was my main issue. i'm able to get out of bed and be productive and don't nap everyday. i feel like a millions bucks most days compared to how i felt two months ago.

the one thing that's hard to adjust to is the lack of hunger. once i got past that starving detox phase i didn't seem to want to eat much. maybe this is just normal but it's so different to me. i was always the gal who went back for second or third servings. i was always looking for something to snack on. i would get hypoglycemic if i didn't eat every two hours. now i can go hours with no snacking and not feel hungry or shaky. i feel full after a bowl of cereal and can't finish my dinner most of the time.

does this sound pretty normal? i'd imagine it's because my body is actually processing the foods instead of shooting through my system.

I wish I had that problem. LOL I'm still hungry a lot after 2 months into the diet. I would just make sure that you are eating healthy foods and that you are eating enough calories during the day and not worry about it. Good thing you have had so much relief!

Your not alone. I almost never feel really hungrey either. The only exception is right after I have been glutened, then I can't get enough for a couple of days. I also think this is because my body is processing food normally now. I was constantly starving for the first couple months gluten-free but before that when I was on gluten I didn't feel hungrey either. But I think that was a sort of Pavlov's dog in reverse. Since for many years I got sick after anything I ate prediagnosis I just never wanted to eat.

In the first couple of weeks I didn't feel hungry, either. I would try to eat anyway, and had trouble getting down/digesting typical large meals. Instead I ate small meals/snacks every 2-3 hours during this phase, and didn't have any problems with this. Now, I'm having trouble sensing feeling full, so I have to be careful!!

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
