Mom Finally Getting Tested!

My mom and I have had a lot of the same symptoms for years. I was finally diagnosed with Celiac disease a year ago, and the more I learned the more I thought my mom had it. She went off gluten for a little while (not fully, just cut out obvious sources, didn't care about CC) but then gave up and started eating it again. She is also diabetic.

Finally she is getting tested! I hope she starts to feel better like me and we can finally have this in common. I feel like she'll understand me so much better and we can have cooking and food to bond over haha.

That's great. A good step in a good direction. I wish you both the best. As someone with both diabetes and celiac disease, I hope it helps her with the diabetes. It might help her blood sugars if you are able to encourage her to cut down on carbs when she gives up gluten. Sometimes it's easier to make one change as long as you're already making another. You didn't mention if she's T1 or T2 but there's a strong connection between celiac disease and T1-both classic and adult onset-T1.5 or L.A.D.A. As someone with a mom who's obviously very sick from gluten I can appreciate what a cause for celebration your news is.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
