Lost Almost 4 Lbs In 8 Hours Of . . .

I've been on a gluten-free diet for 7 weeks, but wasn't feeling any better (I know it takes time but I'm impatient - what can I say?!) so I also went soy and lectin-free 2 weeks ago. My plan has been to slowly add in lectins then soy, and have now added milk and eggs (one at a time, with about 5 days in between). Today I decided to add rice, starting with gluten-free hot rice cereal. Wow, major diarrhea, and as the topic title says, I lost nearly 4 pounds in 8 hours (I've been drinking fluids, and when my stomach feels temporarily settled I eat a bit of pure baby-food fruit (about all I really feel like trying to get into me right now). The other thing I noticed is that the shampoo I've used twice in the past 4 days (but not today) contains wheat germ oil. Can my reaction be to the shampoo (even though I didn't wash my hair today)? Or, would it be due to the rice cereal (which I hope it isn't because I really miss my pre-celiac-diagnosis hot cereals like Cream of Wheat, Sunny Boy, etc., and oatmeal [which I'm not allowed to have just yet])? Opinions much appreciated!

I've been on a gluten-free diet for 6 weeks, but wasn't feeling any better (I know it takes time but I'm impatient - what can I say?!) so I also went soy and lectin-free 2 weeks ago. It's absolutely possible that the shampoo got you. Or that you can't handle rice. Or that you had a stomach bug. You've also only been gluten free for six weeks, not very long. I would also leave more time between new foods, maybe two weeks before adding a new one. Five days isn't long enough to be sure, for a lot of poeple.

It could be the shampoo that got you. Was the rice cereal make in a gluten free facility? It could have been CC'd if it wasn't. As mentioned it is also early on in the diet for you and healing does take some time.

For a nice hot cereal if you liked Cream of Wheat try Cream of Buckwheat. It is very close to cream of wheat in taste and texture. Pocono brand is for sure gluten free. Only buckwheat is processed in the plant and it is grown in dedicated fields.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
