Hi, so I was at starbucks Friday and I found out that they have packages of gluten free cookies. I was so happy..so I thought I should let ya'll know

They do..but be aware, those packages of cookies have oats in them and a lot of celiacs can't have oats...myself being one of them. I was so excited that I bought the cookies without reading the ingredients properly :angry: They do sell fruit and nut bars that are gluten free and delish as well though!!

I had an extremely violent reaction from that product and emailed the Lucy company, and they mentioned that there is a huge possibility of the oats being contaminated.

What about the flavorings in Starbucks coffee? I am newly gluten-free, and I can't figure out if I can have the Caramel or the Pumpkin Spice flavors in my lattes. Or if I can have the frappacinos. Starbucks won't say if anything is gluten-free. Anyone have info on this?

I read on this site not to drink the frappachinos because some of them do contain gluten and they don't wash the blenders between, just a light rinse. Maybe you could ask for a fresh blender and find out which flavours are gluten free, because some must be. I believe the caramel is gluten free, I drink caramel macciatos on occasion and I'm pretty sensitive.

Best way to find out is to go in during a non-busy time and ask exactly what goes into the latte. For a Caramel Latte it would usually be just espresso, frothed milk, and carmel syrup flavoring. Ask to see the bottle of caramel flavoring--you can read the ingredients for yourself. Also ask about whipped cream and if they use a different caramel for the topping. The whipped cream if made fresh in the store "should" be safe, but they will usually add a flavoring to it so you have to ask how it is made and find out the ingredients of that flavoring as well(I used to work at a coffee house-not Starbucks).

      I also had high eosinophils which I’ve never had before either - could that be due to gluten consumption?

      You're welcome! Be sure the patient eats at least ten grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks prior to repeating antibody testing.   Some people unconsciously reduce the amount of gluten in their diet because the feel unwell.  Three grams of gluten per day is sufficient to produce symptoms.  Only at ten grams or more is the immune system provoked to raise the antibody production high enough so that the antibodies leave the digestive tract and enter the blood stream where they can be measured.   Read the comments below the article...

      Thanks for your response and thoughts. Total IgA is normal. HLA DQ2/DQ8 came as heterozygous and the interpretation of the lab that the risk of coeliac disease is mild to moderate. Thyroid function test is normal. I agree that the best way is to repeat tTG antibodies in 6 months time as the result was not massively high.

      Welcome to the forum, @Wamedh Taj-Aldeen, How is the patient's thyroid?   You could check for thiamine deficiency which can cause the thyroid to either become hyper or hypo.  TTg IgA can be high in both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism.  tTg IgA can also be high if patient is taking medications to stimulate the thyroid as in hypothyroidism.   Thanks for visiting!  Keep us posted!
