Ello There!

I am trying out this whole baking my own food gluten free thing, I have had several recipes turn out with the right consistencies but have what I think is a a very very funny taste. I think I have come to the conclusion that it is garbanzo bean flour in the Bob's Red Mill all purpose mix. I am very sensitive when it comes to tastes and textures and I was wondering if anyone else had experienced anything similar or had any suggestions of products that they have had success with that garbanzo bean flour was not an ingredient in. Any and ALL help would be appreciated!!!

I am with you. It makes everything tasste beany

I use a sorghum flour instead of garbanzo flour. I have started mixing my own blends. I just replace the ones I don't care for. I think brown rice flour is also a good sub.

Although I do use and like a few bean flours, garbanzo is one bean flour I never liked. I've also found that Bob's bean flours are all rancid, which seems to be due to excess heat because of stone grinding.

For those interested, here's my best bread recipe thus far.

The topic has come up in the forum a lot: https://www.celiac.com/search/?q=lymphocytic colitis&quick=1&type=forums_topic and here are discussions with "colitis": https://www.celiac.com/search/?&q=colitis&type=forums_topic&quick=1&search_and_or=and&sortby=relevancy

I’m in a flare up with rib pain. I read where others have experienced this after exposure to gluten.  Has anyone found something that eases the pain.

Scott Adams/Trents - Thanks!  I will definitely do some more research.  I welcome any and all advice.

Yes, I've read that online but I was just surprised that no one has mentioned it on this forum specifically.  We have not had our follow up meeting with the Dr where I'm sure she will advise as to how he needs to deal with this ailment.  I have learned from past health issues - if you want to find the REAL truth - talk to someone living with the disease.  THEY will know way more than any doctor ever could.    Thanks for responding.
