Iga Saliva Gliadin High. Could I Have Celiac?

I did a Diagnostics lab hormone and auto-antibody gliadin (igA I believe)test.

Supposedly a high normal is '15' and I was at 62.

I also recently did an 'Asyra' test at my chiropractor's that said I could have an intolerance or allergy to wheat and corn. (I'm not sure how much weight I put into this test, but I mention it anyways).

I plan to get a RAST test soon for wheat, corn, egg and other foods. Not sure what bearing that would have on diagnosis. (if any).

Main question: if my saliva result was high, should I investigate further for celiac disease?

If, 'yes', what sort of blood or saliva further testing should I do next?

How important is it for me to immediately do away with gluten in the meantime?

Hi there. Yes, you might have celiac. Based on the saliva results you can probably get a doctor to order a celiac blood panel. If you want a diagnosis of celiac, you need to keep eating gluten until the blood panel is done and your doctor has decided about a biopsy.

Once you finish whatever testing you want, you might try the diet. A lot of people with anti-gliadin IgA feel better off gluten even if that's their only sign of gluten sensitivity.

That was a high result on the saliva testing. It is however not testing I know much about but yes I would pursue the celiac issue.

I could be wrong but I think the RAST testing is for allergies, if it is you need to be aware that celiac is not an allergy. You can be both allergic to gluten foods and have celiac, which is an autoimmune problem or intolerance.

As the previous poster stated you do need to keep up on a full gluten diet until all testing is complete. Then once you are done with all the testing you want to do get on the diet strictly.

You're welcome. Yes, one step at a time. I never went though the diagnostic procedures at all. Gluten makes me sick, so I don't eat it. ;)

Thanks to both of you.

So I will stay on my foods,

and not depend on the RAST for anything to do with Celiac.

I was told I may have corn sensitivity and am curious about what RAST says about that and some other foods.

I won't see my dr. 'til Aug. 5th.

Until then, I make sure the gluten is there.

I'm sure I'll be back with more questions later.

Oh, and Skylark, if I was certain gluten made me feel bad, it'd be easier to come off without diagnostic testing--for me anyways, at this point.

      I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets for disability because I show no signs of celiac BECAUSE IM GLUTENFREE! Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver.After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

      M&M Peanuts. About the same calories and sugar while M&M Peanuts have fiber, potassium, iron and protein that Tootsie Rolls ("We are currently producing more than 50 million Tootsie Rolls each day.") don't. Click the links to compare nutritional values.  Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.  I use them as a gluten free substitute for a peanut butter sandwich.  Try her on grass fed, pasture fed milk. While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

      I see it everyday on my feeds.  They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts.  I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field.  Some days I would just like to scream.  So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach them properly. I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.
