Pink Himalayan Salt Has Iodine. Argg!

After getting frustrated that my DH is not improving for quite awhile, although I am being very strict about the diet and CC, I googled about pink Himalayan salt, and it turns out it DOES contain iodine. I was confused because iodine is not added to it like most salt. it just occurs naturally in it. I geuss it is just very ancient sea salt! I wish I would have looked into it before!

I remember my scalp doing better when I was using no salt at all.

Yesterday I got some kosher salt which says no iodine on the package. Another setback!

The cool thing about the pink salt is it contains lots of minerals, but unfortunatly for me, iodine is in there too

goes to show, you can't be too extreme about checking and double checking everything if you want to do everything required to get better when you have celiac and DH

the only family member I have who is supportive towards me at all, my step mom, told me that she thought I was being too extreme about my diet. Ha! If only I was being extreme enough!

If your scalp calmed down without the use of salt you may want to drop it for a bit. Once you have been a while without any outbreaks you can add it back in. I know how miserable you must be and I hope things clear up for you soon.

Thanks for everything

I'm noticing a HUGE difference in less than a week after switching to the kosher salt with no iodine. I noticed a significant difference in two days!My scalp is way less itchy, Ive been taking pictures with my phone to see how it's doing, because it's mostly on the back of my head, and can't see it in the mirror. I'm so excited about this actually getting better, especially after pretty much resigning myself to dealing with this nightmare forever many times!

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
