Taste Testing The 'old' And Reformulated Redbridge

As some of you know, the makers of Redbridge put production on hold to reformulate their beer so it could be sold in all 50 states:

In short, the alcohol content was high enough that in some states it would have to be re-labeled as a malt liquor beverage, which they didn't want to do. I got my hands on some of the new brew (at my local Kroeger). It has less calories (133 versus 160), and a lighter taste.

I should state here that I"m a Guinness/porter type of person, and it makes me sad that I can't find a dark gluten-free beer that doesn't taste like candy (Green's). The main reason I like the new Redbridge is that it's slighly more bitter and a lot less sweet. Granted it's a little lighter tasting, but that just makes it go down a lot faster. :) Any others try the new formulation?

(PS, for those who like a hoppy beer, get your hands on a St. Peter's Sorgham ale, it's my all time fave, but at $6 a bottle it's a rare treat. I found mine at Whole Foods.)

I'll give it another try. I didn't care for it before because it was too sweet. Green's I had to pitch--painfully because it was $8!

ive never cared for redbridge it always seemed thin, bards is much better. Ive starting brewing my own and thats another way to do it, its not very hard and it fun too.

Also, I have EZ gluten tested as few regular beers, Corona is less than 10 ppm gluten, budweiser is really high as is Karl Strauss Red trolley. The EZ gluten tests are supposed to pickup wheat, barley or rye down to 10 ppm.

I saw your post on the tests, I"d love to have a real corona but I'm not brave enough yet. Not that I don't trust your results (I"m a chemist myself), but I don't trust that every batch of Corona will be the same. Have you heard of Daura beer by Estrella Damm? Supposedy they've 'deglutenized' the barley before they brew the beer. Not available everywhere in the US yet, but I can't wait to try it!

      Had my MRI today I didn't have to have the manitol with my allergy's , I just had a litre of water , they were great with my concerns , so let's see if anything comes of if will keep posted once I have results 👍

      Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
