Hi, I'm new here! I will tell my background and maybe someone has some insight as to what is going on with me. I feel like a hypochondriac... but I know something is not right.

I am a 28 year old mother of 2. Ever since I had my daughter (a year ago) my body has been off. I have had 2 ct scans done, an ultrasound, and blood work. My iron levels were at 18 about 3 months ago. I have been taking SloFe iron pills everyday since. I started off taking 2, now take 1 bc I thought they made me feel strange. Take a women's multi- vitamin daily. Lots of ibuprofen. I was also put on Wellbutrin and xanax at night for anxiety. Ever since giving birth, I have been extremely constipated (resulting in 2 ct scans). Both showed everything was normal, but I was just "full of s**t." :) I have terrible stomach pains, mainly on my right side, and they go into my leg. I have to take Miralax daily just to have a bm at all. I still never have a "good, normal" bm. I feel very tired, and have a sick feeling constantly... Like I have a virus. I can't sleep w/o taking the xanax. My hands shake all the time, and I just feel off. I have short-term memory lapses, and I feel so out of it! My husband gets frustrated bc I'm always sick and don't seem to be paying attention. I don't have that big of an appetite really and have lost lots of weight since having my daughter w/o exercising (about 65 lbs... now 120. I am 5'2 and have always been small framed, except when pregnant!) I have heart palpitations and chest pains everyday. I've had an echo for this and my heart was fine!

My Dr. thought all of this was due to being anemic and having anxiety from being a busy stay at home mom with 0 energy. (Who has energy with 2 kids under the age a 2 anyways?) LOL! I was told my tummy issues are just IBS/ chronic constipation. I don't feel any different after taking iron supplements, and haven't had bloodwork done since. I just think there is something else wrong. I'm so tired of feeling like this and tired of thinking I might have cancer or something? It's exhausting worrying all the time what is wrong with me? I'm young and should have more energy... I want to run like I used to and be able to keep up with my kids.

I'm seeing a pa today, and I'm asking about Celiac. Any thoughts on anything I'm experiencing would be great. I feel so alone, as everyone around me thinks I'm a hypochondriac. :(

Hi and welcome! You are not a hypochondriac. You know that you do not feel well. Hopefully you are getting the celiac panels done today. Most Dr.s don't know much about celiac disease so you can try to find one that does or if your Dr. would be willing to learn with you. Also get your vitamin levels checked. If they are low, that can make you feel bad too. Just remember to keep eating gluten until all of the tests you want to have are done. Even if they are negative, you can still trial a gluten-free diet and see if it helps you. Oh, get your vitamin D checked.

Honestly, I have been feeling like a new woman. I don't have to take anti-depressants any longer and my energy is slowly starting to come back. I take V-D, B-Complex, and Fish Oil everyday and eat as balanced as I can. I have been gluten-free since the end of May. Something else, I used to have these random 'stomach attacks'(I won't go into the gorey details) in the middle of the night, haven't had one since I went gluten-free. That going away was wonderful!

Please keep us posted.

It is not uncommon for a woman to have celiac triggered by childbirth. Do ask your doctor to do a celiac panel and if that is positive if you choose to get a scope done. After all your tests are done then give the diet a good strict try. False negatives are not uncommon but your body will know the answer. Do not go gluten free or gluten light until the tests are done though.

You don't sound like a hypochondriac to me! Go back to your PCP and

ask about having liver enzymes tested. Your symptoms point to a probable

medication metabolization problem. I was hospitalized recently for NASH (non-alcoholic

steatohepatitis). Means liver isn't metabolizing meds right and you may be

sensitive to medications, as I am. Here's a rundown of the symptoms I was

having:

brain fog

forgetfulness

tired

weak

abdominal pain (constant and colicky)

unexplained itchiness

headaches

shaking

no motivation

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
