Made A Mistake And Had A Small Amount

Hi. I was out last night to dinner with a new friend. I was explaining to her my celiac disease.

She had never heard of it. I was very careful ordering my Sushi dinner. I t was delicious as always. She ordered a spider roll, breaded soft shell crab. One of my old favorites.

At the very end of dinner she had one piece left over. It looked good and I completely forgot it contained breaded crab, I ate it without even thinking.

Today I barely made it to work, I had to go to the bathroom asap. I was thinking why.

Then remembered.....how easy it is to make a mistake. How could such a small amount be so nasty? How could I forget? I wonder now if it will take 72 hours to clear out.

Boyd

I have been gluten-free for 9 months and still have to catch myself once in a while. Its just a habit to take one or eat the leftovers. My kids have threatened to stab me with a fork if I take a cracker from thier plate. (I think they sometimes secretly hope they will get the chance.) ;)

It might not have been that little taste at all. Did you use any regular soy sauce? Did you eat their wasabi paste? Alot of brands of wasabi have wheat in them. Did you eat the eel? Alot of times eel has a soy sauce drizzeled over it.

I usually stick to sashimi and some steamed rice rather than eat the prepared pieces.

True. I sometime bring the gluten-free soy otherwise I avoid it. I did have a small amount of Wasabi. But now that I think of it at home I eat only gluten-free rice, both reg and sushi rice. I wonder if it was the rice as the spider roll does have rice I think. hmmm

I forget.

I actually do the Sashimi most of the time too, without any rice.

That's not bad at all. Yesterday while at work a co-worker brought in some cookies that she said were gluten-free. I had two and within an hour the storm was rolling in. Major body aches and backaches. I had to rush home just so I could get in bed and get my back on a heating pad. Thank God I have heated car seats. I was wiped out for about 4 hours. Amazingly enough, I didn't have any bathroom problems. Would have rather had the bathroom problem than the aching body problems.

Now I only get potty trouble. I guess we are all potty soldiers here. OMG I there I go, I can't even hold it back at times. I get those where I just make it to the potty. IT IS LIKE BOMB BLOW OUT! lol.

I do wonder who hooked me up to the air hose.

STOP IT! Boyd Mods need to start a potty forum.

I know I Am Cat could write a poem on these issues for all of us.

I am Cat is my best everything when we are getting along. I knew she had celiac disease, and bugged her enough to be tested. She came up positive.

Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.

That sounds so very likely in my case! I will absolutely ask my doctor on my next bone check coming up in March... Thanks a lot!

Calcium levels as measured in the blood can be quite deceiving as the body will rob calcium from the bones to meet demands for it by other bodily functions. Also, supplementing with calcium can be counterproductive as it tends to raise gut pH and decrease absorption. More often than not, the problem is poor absorption to begin with rather than deficiency of intake amounts in the diet. Calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. This is why so many people on PPIs develop osteoporosis. The PPIs raise gut pH. And some people have high gut PH for other reasons. Low pH equates to a more acidic environment whereas high pH equates to a more basic (less acidic) environment.

Kind thanks for all this valuable information! Since my Folate was/is low and also my Calcium, there IS a chance I am low in B vitamins... My doctor only measured the first two, oh and Zinc as I has twisted her arm and guess what, that was mega low too. So who knows, until I get myself tested properly, what else I am deficient in... I did a hair mineral test recently and it said to avoid All sources of Calcium. But this is confusing for me as my Ca is so low and I have osteoporosis because of this. It is my Adjusted Ca that is on the higher side and shouldn't be. So am not sure why the mineral test showed high Ca (well, it was medium in the test but relative to my lowish Magnesium, also via hair sample, it was high I was told). But anyway, thanks again for the VitB download, I will look into this most certainly!

Hello good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone has ever brought their anti-allergy pills? I have been wanting to use their Cetirizine HCI 10mg. They are called HealthA2Z and distributed by Allegiant Health.I’m also Asthmatic and these allergies are terrible for me but I also want to be sure they don’t have any sort of gluten compound.    I have tried calling them but to no avail. Has anyone ever used them? If so, did you had any problems or no problems at all?    thank you
