Probiotics

How many of you use probiotics to help heal some of the issues with our numerous intolerances? Do you just eat yogurt, do you supplement with capsules/pills?

Is there anything out there for dairyfree/gluten-free?My daughter who is eleven will be on high doses of antibiotics for 1 month (and starting the gluten-free diet all the same time :( ) How much is one supposed to take, to try to balance your normal flora, while taking antibiotics.

How many of you have celiac and yeast problems all at the same time?

Bette

I use probiotics all the time now. I use a daily dose of pills at bedtime. I have not been diagnosed with an intestinal yeast problem, but I feel like I have a problem with it, and the probiotics help to reduce the painful bloating and gas. I feel worse when I don't take them. When I have to take antibiotics (and I always make sure they are gluten-free) I always get this horrible pain in my intestines. It basically feels like they are being ripped open. For a while I thought I was getting a hernia, but it ended up being the antibiotics.

What I have read about taking probiotics while on antibiotics is to take them as far apart as possible to increase the posibility of keeping the healthy bacteria in your intestines. You don't want the antibiotics killing all of the healthy bacteria that you are trying to replace. For example, if you take the antibiotics every 8 hours (at 8am, 4pm and midnight) then you would take the probiotics on a different 8 hour schedule at noon, 8pm and 4am).

I have used Jarrow Formulas. At first they bothered me because they have FOS (FructoOligoSaccharides) in them and I was having trouble digesting fruits when I was first going gluten-free. But they also say they are non-Dairy and free of all common allergens on the label. I have used the Jarro-Dophilus and the Bifidus Balance. Most often I use a combo of the two. It says a serving is 1 tablet, but to take 1-3 tablets a day 20-60 minutes after eating. Open Original Shared Link

I have also used Pro-Biotics Acidophilus by Nutrition Now Inc. It says contains no artificial colors, artificial flavors, preservatives, gluten, salt, wheat, or soy. It doesn't say anything about dairy though. The dose for that is 2 capsules a day. Open Original Shared Link

I have found that yogurt doesn't contain enough pro-biotics to help me with my symptoms. When I was eating yogurt I prefered plain that I would sweeten myself with a little bit of low sugar jam. The flavored ones have too much sweeteners in them.

God bless,

Mariann

I also use probiotics all the time. They are extremely beneficial for the body. I take capsules every day. Right now I use Kyo-Dophilus probiotics. They work extremely well for me.

I used to take Enzymatic Therapy but the ones I am on now seem to help me more.

I think yogurt is beneficial and I eat alot that have probiotics in them but I find it not to be enough by itself. I need to take a capsule as well.

I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.

Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you

Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.

Have you tried AN-PEP enzymes, for example, GlutenX (who is a sponsor here)? A lot of research has shown that it can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines. It might be a better approach than risking nicotine addiction, and the questionable research around this. I also hope that he’s trying to be 100% Gluten-Free.

Hi all  I was diagnosed Coeliac a few years ago and follow a gluten free diet. The list of foods that I can eat without a problem grows shorter on a weekly basis. [I also have diabetes and asthma also].  BUT the reason I am posting this is because I seem to struggle with nausea quite a lot, which is really quite debilitating, and I was wondering if others suffer from nausea, even if following a gluten free diet.
