Does This Rash Ever Go Away?

I have had this kind of rash on my rear end for years. A long time ago, when I went for my general checkup, my Primary Care physician looked at it and said it was like a kind of acne on my rear end and not to worry. Just recently I found out I was gluten intolerant and have gone on a gluten free diet (it is about a month now). My question is - if I stick to this diet - will this rash eventually go away - or is it something you will always have?

Oh...the butt rash. The most miserable of all!

With a gluten-free diet the rash should eventually get much better. It can take up to two years to really see lasting remission, but some folks see relief in less time. It all depends on the person. If you think you have DH, be sure to avoid iodine as it makes the rash worse. The antibodies remain in your skin for up to 10 years, so flares can happen unexpectedly for a long time, but they should get less and less intense. My experience with this is that it is hard to apply hard and fast rules because the extent and intensity varies from person to person. Just remain steadfast in your commitment to your health and the rewards will come.

Best wishes and Happy New Year.

is it DH??????? ive had just about every skin manifestation from Celiac-

Psoriasis & Excema & Dandruff disappeared fairly quickly for me after going gluten free... even just gluten lite- like in a week or two-

But DH took about 4 months to go away after going 100% gluten-free-

this Ionized Silver Ointment from whole Foods really helped- took the itch away immediately and then it started clearing up and fading!!! i didnt use it right away because i wanted my GI to see the rash. it's still discolored right now, and im hoping that goes away

If the rash is painful, I use Walgreens Brand of Pain Relieving Ointment it is just benzocaine and works great.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
